It will be a staycation-based autumn (assuming we don't end up in lockdown again), for many a real opportunity to travel to Italy and (re)discover art cities and destinations that are usually overcrowded.
In this article:
Certainly before 2021 we will not see American and Chinese tourists, and while this is a huge detriment to tricolor tourism, it is also a big opportunity to travel within our borders.
With this article we want to explain how to spend a weekend in Venice in the most exclusive 5-star hotels using points to pay for your stay.
Getting around a Venice emptied of the oceanic crowds of tourists and cruise passengers could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. That's why we decided to develop this list of opportunities.
Gritti Palace
Probably the most luxurious hotel in the entire northeast...and perhaps not just the northeast.
Housed in an old aristocratic residence restored to its former glory, The Gritti Palace is located on Venice's Grand Canal with views of the Church of Santa Maria della Salute and offers luxurious rooms with period furniture and Murano glass.
It is one of the three category 8s that the Bonvoy program presents in Venice. Staying in this facility costs about 1,000 per night. In this case using points is absolutely convenient, since a night starts from 140k Bonvoy, while if you plan to book the presidential suite you should be prepared to shell out almost 2M points...Yes, two million Bonvoy points!
St Regis Venice
For an unforgettable stay featuring an avant-garde look and design. The St. Regis Venice blends modern interiors with its superb past dense with history and is located in the city's best area. Flanked by the Grand Canal and with views of the city's historic landmarks, the hotel has occupied a prime location for over a century and a half
As with the Gritti Palace, this hotel belongs to Marriott And it is a category 8. Staying in this facility has a cost that starts at 140k points per night. Again, thanks to the most exclusive of American Express, one can enjoy gold elite status that, among other benefits, offers the possibility of receiving room upgrades. A benefit that, in a facility like this where a night costs no less than 750k, could be worth the annual charter fee alone.
Hotel Danieli
Hotel Danieli overlooks the Venetian lagoon, giving spectacular views of the Grand Canal and islands. It also overlooks the Doge's Palace and is a short walk from the Bridge of Sighs and St. Mark's Square. The three palaces that make up the structure date back to the 14th, 17th, and 19th centuries, respectively.
The must is to take a sunset aperitif on the hotel terrace, an experience that is worth the price of the room alone; it starts at €450 per night and, again being category 8, the cost per night is 140k Bonvoy points.
Needless to say, for the same cost in points, staying at the Palazzo Gritti can be worth twice as much in terms of Bonvoy conversion as at the Danieli.
Marriott also has cheaper solutions, but we will not discuss them in this article.
Hilton Molino Stucky
Located on Giudecca Island in an old mill, is one of the most iconic hotels in the entire city, in addition to being the largest in the entire lagoon, there are more than 370 rooms inside.
A five-star hotel that can boast a rooftop pool that is no match for that of Singapore's Marina Bay.
Molino Stucky was built in 1884 by German architect Ernst Wullekopf, commissioned by Venetian industrialist Giovanni Stucky: it has always been considered one of the most beautiful mills in Italy.
Rising from the ashes of a fire that had devastated it, it is a destination That normally costs 80k HH, but in this period it is on sale, the stay starts 50k HH per night. However, if you prefer to pay by credit card, we recommend the following. take advantage of the benefits of American Express Platinum, which recognizes Gold status in the Hilton loyalty program, this means free breakfast and savings of nearly 50€ per night.
There are two other facilities in the Hilton catalog, but nothing comparable.
Of course, there are dozens of other luxurious hotels in the lagoon, but unfortunately none of them offer the opportunity to take advantage of points to pay for your stay.
