Wizz Air operates at 146 airports covering 46 countries around the world and is always expanding. But what makes this company so special? What is its history? Let's find out together.

Wizz Air, the Story
The full name is not easy to pronounce, Wizz Air Hungary Légiközlekedési Kft. or rather simply W!ZZ, like its logo. Born in modern times, it was founded in 2003 in Budapest, but his first flight leaves from Poland in 2004, specifically from Katowice, currently the company's secondary airport with the route to London LTN.
In 2017 comes to life Wizz Air UK operating in the United Kingdom, two years later opened the Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, through a venture with the state fund. Subsidiaries operating in Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine are absorbed by the Hungarian parent company.
Wizz Air, the routes
Wizz Air's fleet boasts. 132 aircraft covering 164 destinations at 46 countries of the world, currently operates in Europe and neighboring countries, does not operate overseas routes.
Almost all European countries are covered by Wizz Air's large fleet, named 2016 company of the year. W!ZZ prefers to operate at smaller sized airports in order to reduce costs and provide passengers with less waiting time.

Italian routes
In Italy, Wizz Air relies on, as a base of operations, at the airport in Milan Malpensa. It recently inaugurated new routes connecting the boot from north to south: from September 2020 it will fly two daily flights that stop in Catania and Palermo.
The airports served by Wizz Air are: Alghero, Bari, Bologna, Cagliari, Catania, Lamezia Terme, Milan (Bergamo and Malpensa), Naples, Palermo, Perugia, Pescara, Pisa, Rome (Ciampino and Fiumicino), Turin, Treviso, Venice and Verona.
Wizz Air currently boasts a connection of as many as 52 routes verging in Lombardy and serving as a carrier to Austria, Greece, Portugal, Iceland, Central and Eastern Europe, and North Africa.
Wizz Air Discount Club
Being a Low Cost Company operating mainly in Europe and not overseas, Wizz Air has only one type of class. There are, however, two options that allow for more travel. comfortable:
- Wizz Xtra Space: you can also reserve the seat next to yours to have some extra space, plus boarding is priority
- Wizz XXLong Extra Legroom: a very long name for simply indicating places where you can stretch your legs, ideal for long stretches
W!ZZ recently inaugurated a loyalty program with which frequent travelers can get some discounts on the ticket price, but not only that, it also provides concessions for the fellow travelers. Let's look at them in detail.
There are two plans: Standard e Group. The first, with a contribution of €29.99 per year, includes a loyalty member's subscription and 1 travel companion; the second, on the other hand, provides discounts up to 5 fellow travelers, in addition to the cardholder, at a cost of €69.99 annually.
What are the benefits of the W!ZZ Discount Club?
Wizz Air Discount Club members are entitled to one guaranteed discount by a minimum of €10 on tickets from €19.99 and more than 5€ at hold baggage (from 20 and 32kg). Please remember that depending on the type of plan we have chosen, discounts are also granted to fellow travelers!
Wizz Air also reserves some specials to Discount Club cardholders: you can switch from the Standard plan to the Group plan at any time, paying only the difference price and not a new subscription. In addition, W!ZZ gives the option to cancel the subscription within the first month, returning 50% of the fee paid, if you have not enjoyed the benefits of the Club.

Wizz Air Baggage
Before we conclude our journey into the world of Wizz Air, it is worth mentioning the luggage policies, in order to avoid unpleasant surprises at the gate.
With the tariff Base of Wizz Air, we have at our disposal a hand luggage small: maximum 10kg and size 40 x 30 x 20 cm. This is because it will have to be placed under the seat and NOT in the hat box, a place reserved for large carry-on luggage.
The trolley or large carry-on baggage can only be taken on board if you also purchase the W!ZZ Priority, or priority check-in and boarding. In this case the dimensions are. 55 x 40 x 23 cm for a maximum of 10kg and can be stored in the hatbox Above our heads.
Finally, we have the checked-in baggage, which can be purchased separately and can be 10, 20 or 32 kg, measuring 149 x 119 x 171 cm, which will be stowed in the aircraft hold.
