The hotel industry is the one that has suffered most, after the airlines, from the consequences of the lockdown. While the summer season in Europe partially supported budgets, the same cannot be said for the rest of the world.
In this article:
Therefore, in recent months, we have seen from all the big hotellerie chains a series of targeted offers and promotions to intercept the few customers around.
Hilton Honors, status deadline extended to 2022
The first to move in this direction were the airlines, and now it is the turn of hotels.
Hilton has decided to extend the expiration of all statuses by one year, so all customers-even those who would have effectively lost their status in 2020 but had already been "saved" by the first extension-can rest easy until March 31, 2022. In addition, the expiration of points, which are normally reset after 36 months of inactivity, has been extended.
Reduced requirements for status renewal in 2021
Perhaps the most important and significant announcement, however, is the second one, the one that formalizes the Halving the requirements for status attainment next year. This is in addition to the promotion that will "carry over" all 2020 nights/stays into 2021, so we will not start from scratch but from the final figure of this inauspicious year.
At this point the new requirements will be:
HH Silver. Two stays or alternatively one of: 5 nights or 12,500 HH points
HH Gold. Ten stays or alternatively one of: 20 nights or 37,500 HH points
HH Diamond. Fifteen stays or alternatively one of: 30 nights or 60,000 HH points
A halving that makes the Diamond level attainable even for infrequent travelers.
Milestone bonus at hand
For the past several years, the Hilton Honors program has included some bonuses upon reaching certain milestones, again throughout 2021 the thresholds are more accessible, offering an additional chance to earn points from Turn in free nights around the world.
Normally 10k HH points are credited to the account every 10 nights, over the 40th night in a calendar year. For next year this milestone is halved, so 20 nights will be enough to trigger the count before reaching the bonus.
Status as a gift for a friend
Last but not least. The program provides that customers who achieve diamond status can gift the status to a friend/relative, who will then have one year to enjoy the privileges.
You will be able to give Gold status upon reaching 30 nights instead of 60, you will be able to give the diamond card instead if you reach 60 nights instead of 100.
