Some people call it "bubble" as in the NBA and who  "corridor" like the British government, the meaning, however, is the same: freedom to travel from one nation to another for any reason whether essential or not, such as tourism.

In this article:

Both nations closed their borders last spring, with airports remaining operational only for cargo and repatriation flights until mid-summer. Then Hong Long and Singapore gave a green light to commercial flights, but with harsh restrictions (mandatory quarantine for passengers) and continued to ban tourist travel.

Both airports, again with strict rules, were also open to transits to allow passengers to stopover and depart, without leaving the sterile area of the airport. Again, travel was only essential since none of the nations in the region reopened to tourists.

Currently the"Bubble" announcement could pave the way for a slow return to normalcy. This has been talked about for many months, but the second wave has slowed down any dialogue between nations. At last something would seem to be moving, although for us from Italy it still remains a mirage to be able to fly to those nations.

The operation will be simple and reciprocal, allowing respective residents to move between the two states as before, without incurring limitations or isolation, unless of course the buffer fails.

Other nations are considering similar solutions. Australia, New Zealand, and Japan are thinking of activating a bubble to facilitate travel, as is Thailand's plan to reopen controlled areas to open Phucket to tourists who will be required to stay in a defined area for an initial 14-day period and then be able to move freely throughout the nation.
