Italy and the Mediterranean are at the heart of the restart of world cruising
Tomorrow Costa Cruises' flagship will take to the sea again after 8 months
"At the moment, cruises as we know them are only in the Mediterranean and Italy-this would not have been possible without the support of the government. Premier Conte was with us when Costa Deliziosa departed from Trieste. Many nations can learn from Italy on how to support and revive the industry, such as Germany itself."

This was the statement from Micheal Thamm, Costa Cruises CEO, on the day of the historic and long-awaited restart of cruises in Savona after the harsh lockdown period and the stop imposed on sea travel
"We must not forget that this will mean bringing thousands of German tourists to Italy, who will sail aboard AIDABlu," Thamm concludes, ahead of upcoming departures from Civitavecchia on Oct. 24 and La Spezia on Oct. 29.
"It has been a tough time for the whole world, but we have to learn to live during this pandemic, we have to protect our workers and our loved ones with the purpose of starting to move forward again and produce wealth."
"The reaction of the passengers has been wonderful," Thamm further adds, "We have never seen such a high level of satisfaction, starting with the Deliziosa, which was the first to sail the seas again. We never had any problems on board, either with the passengers or the crew."
