Review Sheraton Milan San Siro, sleeping with a view of La Scala del calcio
A really nice facility in a location in Milan that lacked quality hotels.
A brand new facility, opened in 2019, with 310 rooms, including 24 suites, a presidential suite and 21 conference rooms.
In this article:
Located a few kilometers from the Meazza stadium, it offers every service and for this reason listed by the Marriott Group as a category 4. Compared to many other hotels of the same level, however, it deserves to be higher up. For us serial travelers, this translates into a lower cost in terms of Bonvoy points and is always a good thing.
By taking advantage of this Marriot promotion. it is possible to sleep one night for free in this hotel for a really small number of Bonvoy.
Reservation
As always when booking at these facilities, it is always best to do so through the chain's proprietary channels. This is the only way to take advantage of all the privileges and especially to earn points and bonuses that will translate into additional benefits.
At the time of booking the basic room had a cost of 22,5oo bonvoy points, in terms of public prices it started from €131 for a Classic Studio King up to €161 for a Club King with lounge access. By virtue of the gold status guaranteed by my american express platinum I was able to access the discounted rates and booked a Club room at €124 including breakfast.
The room
My choice fell on the highest level room, below the suite, too bad it did not receive an upgrade.
In any case I must say that everything was very nice, modern, clean and fresh. King size bed and with a great mattress, a comfortable desk with armchair for working and an equally comfortable chaise long.
Two water bottles, the Nespresso coffee maker and a thermos to make your own herbal tea are in the room.
"Bagged" remote control and two sanitizing wipes on both bedside tables. Also excellent heating system, easy and intuitive to use.
Also on the bedside table is an alarm clock equipped with a base for wireless cell phone charging.
Large bathroom with walk in shower and everything you would expect from these facilities. Excellent that all bathroom products are cellophane wrapped, both towels and bathrobe.
Services
On the top floor of the facility is the Sheraton Club, which is the lounge for guests with elite status and Club rooms, SPA, and gym.
Unfortunately, at the time of my visit, both the club and the SPA were closed due to covid restrictions.
The gym, on the other hand, is open h24 and is equipped with the latest Technogym machines and enjoys an incredible view of the San Siro area and, of course, the stadium as well.
Given the proximity to the facility, running on these treadmills will be like getting ready to take the field.
On the ground floor, in addition to the conference rooms and restaurants, there is a beautiful relaxation area where one can relax at the end of a day or where one can work thanks to workstations equipped with power outlets and WiFi that is sufficiently performant for smartworking tasks.
In the outdoor garden you can also relax in front of a huge brazier. The pool is not large and if it were covered it would make this facility really perfect. Great idea is the manicured and fenced children's area, perfect for letting the kids amuse themselves before heading out for a Milan day or upon returning to the hotel.
The restaurant
As it is now (almost) curfew in Milan, I decided to dine at one of the restaurants in the hotel El Gaucho by Javier Zanetti.
An Argentine brasserie offering mainly meat dishes, available to customers the same menu as the restaurant also as room service.
I ordered a sirloin rare with fries, and was also offered an enpandas to break the wait.
Breakfast
By now it is clear hotel you go to breakfast you find. Even in establishments in the same chain it is a free-for-all, between those who do not offer breakfast to those who do everything as before.
In this case, the breakfast room took advantage of the old buffet counter to accommodate the new one, placed behind a plexiglass wall and with waiters taking orders and taking care of bringing the food to the table, in short, a served buffet.
For Club guests, all lounge activities and services are provided in this area with the same hours as for other guests, DCPM permitting, of course.
In conclusion
You can smell Marriott here, very modern facility with restaurants, lounge bar, pool. In the new world, when you can jump back into the stands of San Siro, this hotel is perfect as a base to go to the stadium if you don't live in Milan.
This stay earned me a total of 5,188 Bonvoy points, 1,750 basis points, 418 bonus elites and 3,000 extra. In practice. 4 stays = 1 a free stay
Pro
- Brand new and full optional
- It is too beautiful to be "only" a category 4
Against
- You can see that because of covid they have restricted the number of staff, both at the front desk and in the common areas
