With AZ674 Rome-São Paulo, Alitalia resumes flights to South America discontinued in the spring.

The flight to Brazil will be followed on December 19 by the reactivation of the connection to Buenos Aires as well. Both flights will be weekly and will be operated with the Boeing 777/200 bireactor.
These are the first non-stop flights from Italy to Latin America to be reintroduced since the outbreak of the pandemic, and in addition to being a chance for travelers to move from one continent to another, they will provide more opportunities for cargo transfer, thanks to the cargo capacity in the 20-ton cargo holds.
This is an activity that is particularly in demand in the market, so much so that the company's cargo division, in the Covid-19 era, carried out 337 special cargo flights in various parts of the world.
In detail, the connection to Brazil will operate every Tuesday with departure from Fiumicino at 10:05 p.m. and arrival at São Paulo-Guarulhos airport at 6:25 a.m. (local) the following day. From São Paulo, the Alitalia Boeing will take off every Thursday at 4:05 p.m. (local) to land at Fiumicino at 7:15 a.m. the following morning.
Since it will be operated with only one aircraft and one crew, the 777 will actually be parked at the airport for 30 hours, so the flight crew will be able to rest and depart a day and a half later.
A new codeshare agreement with Brazilian airline GOL will offer Alitalia passengers connections to 39 other Brazilian destinations (including, for example, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Recife, Salvador), as well as important benefits for MilleMiglia Program members, who will be able to earn miles by flying with the Brazilian airline. A collaboration agreement that adds to the one already in place with AZUL Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras.
Instead, the connection to Argentina will operate every Saturday, starting Dec. 19, with takeoff from Fiumicino at 9:50 p.m. and arrival at Buenos Aires-Ezeiza airport at 8 a.m. (local) the next day. From the Argentine capital, the Alitalia Boeing will take off for the first time on December 21 at 3 p.m. (local) to land at Fiumicino at 7:55 a.m. the following morning.
The commercial partnership with Aerolineas Argentinas will enable Alitalia passengers to continue their travel to 33 destinations in Argentina, plus Santiago de Chile, Lima, Asuncion, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro.
