The return of the Boeing 737 Max in Europe. A few last bureaucratic acts and it will be official. Airlines will be able to reintroduce the aircraft into their fleets. The first green light has been obtained from the FAA and now all that is missing is the okay from theEasa, or the European Aviation Safety Agency. No surprises in sight and everything already set. Appointment for the next week.
In this article:
The return to flight will be made after investigations are made regarding the requested changes. The incidents that occurred led to a widespread halt, and now the director of the European regulator, Patrick Ky, announces the final green light for our continent: "The directive should be published next week. From our point of view, Max can fly again in Europe." The issue of Boeing 737 Max in Europe exceeds 550. The aircraft will be delivered to the intended customers so as to connect the various airports.
United States e Brazil were the first to reintroduce the model in the late 2020s. To date, the 737s are already committed for commercial flights in the US. News is also coming from the Canada, which has already issued final approval. The reinstatement was made on January 20, 2021, and will slowly work its way back into the regular flight schedule. Air Canada has set the first commercial route for February 1, 2021.

Ryanair's plan
If you mention Boeing 737 Max in Europe you automatically think of Ryanair. The low-cost airline has made a large investment, ordering as many as 75 new aircraft. A figure in addition to the 135 planes requested. An order, the latter, confirmed. More than 200 aircraft that will add to the fleet.
The plan, according to Eddie Wilson, CEO of Ryanair, is to offer the 737 Max initially in the UK. No doubt that they will be involved in the summer routes. Of the same opinion, of course, Michael O'Leary, the company's owner: "As soon as the virus starts to slow down, Ryanair and our partner airports in Europe will re-establish their schedules, recovering lost traffic and helping various European countries reinvigorate the tourism industry."
The boss particularly believes in this plane, quieter, cheaper and more comfortable. Lower fuel consumption and cheaper prices. This could be the path chosen by the company to entice its customers to trust the 737 Max again. It is not yet clear what policy Ryanair will follow but, for the moment, it is certain that the name of the aircraft has been changed. It will be introduced as 737 8200 Gamechanger (8 is the model and 200 passenger seats). One way to try not to easily link the new planes, modified and made safe to fly again, with the accidents that occurred at the Lion Air 610 and to theEthiopian Airlines 302.
Watchword: transparency
The big question is the doubt regarding the passengers. Will they be able to trust the Boeing 737 Max again? Of the subsidized fares, in relation to the incidents that occurred and designed to get the industry back on track after the emergency Covid, will they be enough? While waiting to see what will happen in Europe, in Canada WestJet, the first to operate a commercial flight by this means, has shown the way forward.
The watchword is transparency, without a doubt. Its passengers know full well that they are boarding this type of plane. "The hope," explains Captain Scott Wilson, "is that time will show the safety of the Max, calming even the most skeptical passengers.
