What is the Refer a Friend Offer
The ability for a cardholder to invite a friend to become a cardholder of the American Express circuit. Through the app or the restricted area on the Amex website, one gets a link that can be shared with friends, family, colleagues.
Depending on the type of card held by the presenter and the card requested by the presenter both will receive a bonus in terms of Membership points, Payback or cashback.
How the offer works and what the rules are
The presenter will get the bonus a few days after the card is issued to the introduced friend. Conversely, the new holder will have to complete what is in the offer to get the welcome bonus.
- The presenter will still receive the bonus even if the presenter never activates or uses the credit card.
- The friend receiving the link will be able to change the type of card from the one shown when the link is opened.
- Nothing will be received if the presenter is already a holder of the same type of credit card
- You can't self-present
How many maximum points can you earn
As is well known, membership points are personal and combine all cards, except Alitalia cards, into one wallet. This means that if you introduce friends using the cards Traditional American express will accumulate MR points, conversely if you generate the invitation with an Alitalia card you will accumulate millemile points.
Every (calendar) year can be accumulated:
- A maximum of 300 thousand MR points
- A maximum of 120 thousand Payback points
- 40€ re-credit only For those who use the Blue Card
What is new for 2022 is precisely that the maximum limit of MR points that can be accumulated each year has risen from 175k to 300k per user.
How many points I earn for each friend I introduce
Determining the value of the points you earn as a presenter and the bonus of the friend presented is the credit card held by the presenter. So be careful which card you use to generate the code to send to the friend, colleague, relative. Getting the wrong card could mean earning thousands of points less.
