Virgin Atlantic, a new offering
In a short time Virgin Atlantic has decided to improve its status match offering. Previously, the upgrade was done immediately. Customers were simply required to wait a maximum of 48 hours for Silver or Gold.
The company, however, has realized that the immediate upgrade is not the most appealing reason for many customers. Although 2021 is set to be the year of the tourism industry's restart, many tickets currently have somewhat distant dates, from next summer to the second half of the year. In such cases, the buyer certainly prefers to wait until the departure date to Starting the 12-month elite period.
All this led Virgin to come up with two different options from which to choose:
- Request immediate update
- Request the upgrade on the first day of the month of the next Virgin Atlantic flight
What is status match
Every airline aims to build customer loyalty. For this reason, frequent flyer clubs exist. This is what is meant by status match, membership in a club of a company that provides benefits both when purchasing tickets for the main brand and as you do so with partner companies.

I requirements for the status match Virgin's:
- Be a holder of Executive Club status
- Be in possession of a Virgin Atlantic flight schedule (alternatively, you can book one by February 28)
Within a maximum period of 30 days from the request made, the level will be recognized. Here is how the "conversion" works:
- British Airways Executive Club Bronze: Flying Club Silver (Premium or Upper Class booking required)
- British Airways Executive Club Silver: Flying Club Silver (any reservation will be accepted)
- British Airways Executive Club Gold: Flying Club Gold (any reservation will be accepted)
The benefits of Virgin status match
Several benefits are offered to members of Virgin Atlantic's Flying Club. One in common with all statuses is the ability to earn points and miles even with award flights.

Why request the Status Match
If you are planning to fly with this company, it will be a way to be treated "better," earn more points, and get small benefits even while flying economy class.
