Since the hotel near theGenoa airport has changed management, dropping the Sheraton brand, the AC hotel in the city's Levant is the only option to earn points by staying in Genoa for the Marriott group clients. There are also no Hilton Group hotels in the city and metropolitan area.
Location
In this article:
The hotel is located in the eastern part of the city, definitely decentralized from the more touristy heart of the city. Easy to reach by exiting at the Genova Nervi exit on the A12, the Genova-Livorno highway.
The facility is easy to reach since it is located on one of the main city arteries, both for those coming from downtown and those arriving from the highway. Equipped with underground parking, it borders a Coop supermarket, always useful in case of last minute needs.
Reservation and reception
Reservation made through app, if you do not use official channels you will not accumulate points and will not enjoy the benefits provided by the level in the Bonvoy loyalty program. The cost of the room did not seem particularly aggressive, even comparing the situation to what is happening in Milan, in any case I preferred to pay 92€ for one night rather than use 10k Bonvoy points.
An additional motivation for me to pay for the room was the current promotion that allows all elite customers to earn double points and double qualifying nights.
The common areas are very modern, there was only one receptionist when I arrived at the hotel, and the paperwork was done quickly.Interestingly, it is suggested to book a table for dinner in the hotel restaurant, since all restaurants in town are closed due to Covid.
The room
Upon arrival at the hotel I was informed that I had received a free upgrade, frankly I found no difference between the standard room with king bed I had booked and the room I received.
Furnishings in the norm, like the room amenities.
King bed and very comfortable mattress.
Also available is a coffee maker and a refrigerator bar, empty.
It is amazing how hotels in this category have such poorly sized televisions.
The bathroom shows perhaps all the years of the structure.
Also standard equipment as a personal care kit.
Bagged remote control and two sachets for sanitizing hands and surfaces.
Restaurant and breakfast
Since everything was closed I had a pasta dish in the hotel restaurant. I must say that they organized themselves very well, two shifts to reduce crowding, sophisticated menu with typical products and dishes. Service really well executed, maybe just a little bit slow.
Breakfast buffet "basic" and inadequate, although in covid era. The rate booked included breakfast, but that doesn't mean you can't offer service that is up to standard. Very little choice of hot items, in fact only scrambled or boiled eggs.
The choice of desserts was also reduced to the bone with small croissants (hollow or cream) and a cake.
The rest of the buffet included juices, yoghurt, cheese, and some fresh fruit.
In conclusion
If one wants to earn Bonvoy points by staying in Genoa, there is no alternative. Considering that the 92€ rate also included breakfast, I positively rate the night spent in this facility, definitely suitable for business stays and not for those who want to spend a few days discovering the city.
Insufficient breakfast.
Pro
- Convenient location in the eastern part of the city
- It has the garage
Against
- Far from the center
- Insufficient breakfast
- To enter and park, you do gymkhana between columns
- Dated rooms
