The new dpcm is finally here, with its (tightened) rules and a few more bans. The color divisions are confirmed, and the questions continue to be many. For example: Easter we can go abroad? Because, while it is true that there are far more serious problems in Italy today, the desire for escape is great. And travel, in Europe and around the world, is beginning to taste like nostalgia.
In this article:
Will we be able to go abroad at Easter? The answer in the dpcm
Until March 27 (for now) is Forbidden to move between regions, even if these are in the white or yellow zone. It is only possible for reasons of health, work or urgency (with self-certification attached). Spending Easter in the second homes, perhaps at the beach or in the mountains, you can only if you do not have to leave a dark orange or red zone. If the vacation home is shared or timeshare, it is only accessible to one household at a time, and in any case, you must be able to prove that you have owned or rented that home since before January 14, 2021.
Will we be able to go abroad at Easter, then? It depends, on the color of the region where you reside and where you want to go. The cruises continue, at least those of companies such as Costa Cruises that have provided for a strict anti-county protocol. While, as far as flights are concerned, the new dpcm goes in the direction taken a few months ago: that of the "Covid-tested" flights.
Those arriving in Italy on a Covid-tested flight are not required to be in fiduciary isolation, and the strategy seems to be working. Flights between Rome Fiumicino and New York, which departed last December 8 using precisely the Covid-tested formula, showed a positivity rate of 0.13% (only 5 out of 3,824 passengers tested positive for Coronavirus and were therefore unable to board). The idea under consideration by the government is, now, to di schedule flights of this type to and from Los Angeles, Washington, Boston, Miami, Dallas, Tokyo, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, United Arab Emirates, Canada, China, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
Covid-tested flight boarding is allowed only to those who present at the gate the certification of a molecular or antigenic swab negative carried out in the previous 72 hours or undergoes on the day of departure, At the airport, to a rapid antigen test. which will have proven negative. The airports offering Covid test flights are, to date, Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate.
Unforeseen events are around the corner so we recommend that you leave properly protected by insurance that won't leave you in case of emergency and perhaps choosing to travel with a airline offering dedicated covid coverage.
Where the Italians can go
The only way we can go abroad for tourism, then, is to board a Covid-tested flight. Or, we can travel to Europe.
Those who live in a yellow or white region can leave national borders and travel, even without justification, to Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark (including Faroe Islands and Greenland), Estonia, Finland, France (including Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana, Reunion, Mayotte and excluding other territories located outside the European continent), Germany, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands (excluding territories located outside the European continent), Poland, Portugal (including Azores and Madeira), Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (including territories on the African continent), Sweden, Hungary, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Andorra, Monaco.
Always holding firm the rules in force in the destination countries, in terms of fiduciary isolation and tests required at entry.
