Seychelles has done an outstanding job controlling the Covid-19 outbreak within its borders and putting security measures in place. A vaccination campaign began in January with 100,000 doses donated by India and 50,000 by the United Arab Emirates. The rapid and aggressive launch of vaccines will enable the islands to become one of the first countries in the world to achieve herd immunity status by the end of the month. The announcement of the opening to all travelers came on March 4, 2021 from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Sylvestre Radegonde.
Guidelines for staying in the Seychelles.
The government has also issued some guidelines for those who will finally want to return to the territory or visit the Seychelles islands for the first time. Specifically, visitors will only be required to present a negative PCR test performed 72 hours prior to departure; instead, there will be no quarantine requirements or movement restrictions on entry to the Seychelles. Another rule changed is the minimum stay, which is no longer required. Instead, the requirement to wear masks and observe social distancing remains in place. All the new measures thus allow visitors access to all common areas within the hotel premises, including the bar, pools, spa, and children's club.
Seychelles' economy is based primarily on tourism, and the government has done everything in its power to ensure the protection of the population. Opening the borders is the next step to enable economic recovery, and all the measures announced have been established in consultation with the health authorities. Of course given the global emergency, travel requirements may change. As the government itself announced, Seychelles will continually review its new entry measures "to ensure that at all times the health and safety of visitors and the local population is not compromised." From Italy, there are no direct flights to Seychelles: it is necessary to take a flight with a stopover. From all major Italian airports there are numerous flights to major hubs such as Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Istanbul or Doha. From there, after a stopover, you take a flight to the Seychelles.
