Previously, mandatory testing and quarantine were required for all new arrivals. Iceland trip, documentation
It is easy to talk about a green light, but in concrete terms, how is it possible to enter Iceland while avoiding the current safety parameters? The relevant category is vaccinated travelers who are able to present a valid certificate, demonstrating the administration of one of the anti Covid-19 approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). It is worth noting that free access, in this case, also applies to all tourists from countries outside the Schengen area.
The certificate referred to is issued at the time of vaccination. This means that those who intend to return to traveling as they once did, or nearly so, freeing themselves from certain restrictions, will not have to make special requests or fill out specific forms.
As much as the world is increasingly moving in the direction of total digitization, the documentation referred to could also be in print version. Much will depend on the process of developing dedicated health passport apps, which have been much talked about for months.
The task of assessing the veracity of the certificate lies with border control. It should be emphasized that it is necessary for the vaccination certificate to be written in one of the following languages:
- Icelandic
- Danish
- Norwegian
- Swedish
- English
- French
This represents the real limitation, considering the Italian bureaucracy. It is possible to submit a document in the local language, as long as there is Attached is a certified and stamped translation In one of the languages listed above.

- Name
- Last name
- Date of birth
- Nationality
- Passport number
- Name of vaccination
- Date of vaccination
- Manufacturer and lot number
- Information about the body issuing the certificate
- Details on licensed vaccines
Vaccination passport in Iceland
There has long been talk of a vaccine passport, a key tool to jumpstart international tourism. What is needed is a digital means of easily crossing borders, simplifying the identification of vaccinated passengers and, therefore, those who do not have to comply with quarantine and take tests upon departure or arrival.
WHEREAS, Iceland, as mentioned, also accepts paper certificates, it is among the first countries to introduce the digital vaccination passport. Specifically, it is possible to download the "Rakning C-19", which allows easy tracking of incoming subjects.
The Department of Health, however, stressed that even travelers vaccinated against Covid-19 must pre-register on the Covid.is website before they can land in Iceland. Here are what vaccines have been approved to date:
- Pfizer-BioNTech
- Modern
- AstraZeneca
- Janssen
The government explained, however, that the list will be updated based on Ema's decisions. From mid-April, in fact, the vaccine produced by Johnson&Johnson will also be added.
