The 737 MAX back in the air, in Europe it was the TUI airline that first put them back in the sky. The same British company a few days later was also the first to receive the new 737 MAX that had long been at a standstill in the Boeing household.

In this article:

The first flight of TUI, which unveiled the new aircraft, was made from the parking lot of Boeing's factory at London Gatwick Airport. The name chosen for the company's first MAX is. Naples, will it be because it is blue?

There were no passengers on the flight: the 737 MAX was blank In the true sense of the word, there weren't even seats mounted, which will be installed at the destination. The configuration will be similar to the old 737-800 with 189 places on board.

TUI was also the first European airline to receive the new MAXs, which were stopped at the factory after the recertification by EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) on January 27. The British government, on the other hand, has only recently approved its internal valid certification for the operation of the aircraft.

As we know the 737 MAXs had been withdrawn by all companies after the tragic accidents occurred in 2018 and 2019 , in which more than 350 people lost their lives. Boeing recently Settled 2.5 billion with U.S. justice to answer for those disasters.

For aircraft recertification, EASA has determined. 4 conditions necessary for the 737 to pass approval and fly again:

    • The causes of accidents fully understood
    • Necessary design changes
    • Total review of the project by an independent body
    • Appropriate training for the crews and employees who will operate the 737 MAX

    United Airlines shops 737 MAX

United does not want to be outdone by TUI; in fact, it has decided just these days to purchase more 25 Boeing 737 MAX, which are in addition to the other 163 already ordered.

The American company decided to go ahead with the purchases soon after the Federal Aviation Administration's revoked the 737 MAX ban, deliveries will be spread out through 2023, with 40 aircraft delivered by 2022.

    China still has doubts

Contrary to this, the government Chinese which said it was not yet ready to fly the Boeing 737 MAX again. China had been the first country to interdict from flying the aircraft, just after incidents in Indonesia and Ethiopia.

Dong Zhiyi, the deputy director of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, said at a press conference:

"The main safety concerns raised by Chinese regulators have not been fully resolved. Design changes must pass airworthiness approval, pilots must receive effective flight training, and the conclusions of the investigations into the two accidents have yet to be clarified."

Zhiyi added, "The technical overhaul has not yet entered the certification and flight test stage," which suggests that at present the government in Beijing has no intention of putting the 737 MAX back into the air without the checks interiors, we are not aware of the timeline in this regard.

In any case, in Europe and North America we will return to sit on these giants of the skies, now much more SAFE. Of course, we still don't know exactly when and how we will be able to ply the ocean, but good news is on the horizon: American Airlines Indeed, it has reestablished the connection between Milan e New York Which will start from April!
