Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the opening of Andaz Bali. The property offers a contemporary version of the traditional Indonesian village and lifestyle and is located in the heart of Sanur, a picturesque seaside village known for its old-world charm, beaches, and spectacular sunrises. Andaz Bali is the first Andaz resort in Asia, adding to the brand's growing urban portfolio in the region that includes Seoul, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Singapore, Tokyo, and Xiamen.
The concept of Andaz Bali
In this article:
Andaz Bali pays homage to Balinese art and craftsmanship, weaving together the island's rich heritage and the contemporary influence of artists who have visited Sanur over the decades. "From the resort's locally inspired architecture and interior design to the food and music, Andaz Bali combines the calm and timeless spirit of Sanur with an energizing approach that inspires guests," said Rina Mariani, general manager, Andaz Bali.
The overall concept of the resort reflects the local and is inspired by the surrounding villages, from its intimate scale with buildings surrounded by lush greenery to its use of distinctive red brick, a traditional building material there. The heart of Andaz Bali is the village square, where the open, barrier-free design and stimulating programming invite guests and residents to come together. Accommodations and guest facilities are spread across a lush tropical landscape following the cardinal directions, which play a significant role in the Balinese Hindu religion.
Rooms, wellness and restaurants
Designed by Tokyo-based Tierra Design and Spin Design Studio in Bangkok, Andaz Bali has 149 rooms including 18 Garden Villas and four Beach Villas. The rooms, suites, and villas are designed in contemporary Balinese style, using locally sourced materials such as bamboo, andesite stone, marble, and teak wood. Each room consists of a private balcony overlooking the garden, ocean or lagoon. Just a few steps from the beach, the Beach Villas have an outdoor terrace with pool for the ultimate in relaxation.
The resort's exclusive restaurant is located on the property, Fisherman's Club , a modern take on Jimbaran's seafood dining experience with a sophisticated beach club ambiance. Taking inspiration from the stores in Denpasar's Chinatown, diners are invited to sit where they want and order as they wish at Village Square, which features four restaurants intertwined on the ground floor with a private dining room and rooms upstairs.
For one's own well-being, on the other hand, there is the Shankha Spa which offers relaxing treatments inspired by Balinese healing traditions using indigenous ingredients such as sea salt, pearl powder, coconut oil, and spices. It also houses a fitness center, sauna, steam room, hot and cold water pools, yoga space, an adults-only pool, and a small boutique and lounge. Guests can take a refreshing dip in one of Andaz Bali's three pools: an infinity pool on the beach, a children's pool, and a pool that sits under a majestic tree for those who prefer a more relaxing and reflective environment.
