Finally, from the April 26, a tentative recovery will envelop Italy. It will be possible to return to travel between regions, moving to tourism: without any special document among yellow regions, while with a self-certification (stating that you have been vaccinated, are cured of the virus, or have undergone a negative swab) among red or orange regions.
In this article:
Where to go. You are spoiled for choice, in terms of beauty, Italy is second to none. Today, however, we want to tell you about Milan, often relegated to the role of "only" a business city, but rich in places to discover. Its museums and neighborhoods are beloved by foreign tourists and deserve to be (re)discovered by Italians as well. Especially since it is possible to stay in the city's hotels...without paying! Or rather, paying very little.
In this short guide, that is exactly what we want to tell you about: How to pay for hotel with points in Milan, where--by hotel--means only the top of the range or at least a very good quality-price compromise.

Excelsior Hotel Gallia
Milan's historic hotel, theExcelsior Hotel Gallia opened its doors in 1932. Its 182 rooms are furnished with furnishings handcrafted by local ateliers and inspired by the designs of Gio Ponti and Achille Castiglioni. To stay here is to be in luxury, the real kind, especially if (bank account permitting) you choose the Katara Royal Suite: one thousand square meters on two terraces, four rooms and a private spa for one of its largest suites in Italy.
L'Excelsior Hotel Gallia belongs to Marriott And it is a category 7. To pay for the hotel with the dots you need 70k (corresponding to 352 euros) for a Prestige Room, 176k for an Atelier Room. The points needed are similar for theHotel Viu Milan, Milan's first hotel dedicated to the traveler bleisure. A real treasure chest of luxury, with its terrace with 360-degree views of the city and rooftop pool. Again, with 70k points you get a room with a Queen bed and a view of the city (but on some days you also find deals for 50k for the same room).
Far fewer are needed to stay at the Straf, an unconventional, intellectually designed four-star (as it likes to call itself). Also owned by Marriott, it is instead a category 5. And, of points, it only asks for 35k (against a cash price of 244 euros). The same points are enough for one night at the Sheraton Diana Majestic, category 6 and among the best hotels in the Porta Venezia area.
If you don't have Marriott points (but even if you do, it's good to do so), your best bet is to apply for Platinum American Express. By signing up for it you get right into the Elite status by Mariott Bonvoy, with benefits such as free upgrade and 2 p.m. late check-out.

Excelsior Hotel Gallia
Me Milan The Duke
Located in Piazza della Repubblica, between the nightlife of Corso Como, the Duomo and the Quadrilateral, Me Milan The Duke is a lifestyle hotel signed Meliá. Its rooms and suites overlook Milan's skyline, while the exclusive terrace located on the building's top floor offers fabulous views. A stay here costs from 450 euros per night, but deals can often be found for less than 300. Members of the MeliáRewards are entitled to promotional rates, based on level (White, Silver, Gold and Platinum).
Again, Signing up for an American Express Platinum is advantageous. The queen of Amex gives the.access to MeliáRewards Gold status (normally you would need at least 30 overnight stays to get it), with benefits such as 4 p.m. or 6 p.m. check-out, free breakfast, three discount 20% vouchers, and 2,000 welcome points.

Radisson Blu Hotel
Health club with a gym, sauna and biosauna, a restaurant (Leonardo) serving more creative traditional Italian dishes and rooms furnished in a modern style: the Radisson Blu Hotel is perfect for exploring the historic center and treating yourself to a relaxing stay.
It is not the epitome of luxury, probably, but it is a four-star hotel that can defend itself well. With 9k points, those enrolled in the Radisson Awards can stay for free in a standard room (which would cost about 110 euros per night). While, by signing up for American Express Platinum, they get a free upgrade and 15% discount on food and drinks.
