With the data increasingly improving and the vaccination campaign underway, the chances of finally returning to a new normal are increasing. From May 16, all of Italy will be in the yellow zone, and three regions (Sardinia, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Molise) could aspire to the white zone from next week. A scenario that prompted Health Minister Roberto Speranza to cancel Quarantine for those coming from European Union countries..

Stop mini quarantine, minister Speranza's choice
While restrictive measures related to Brazil are extended in the ordinance, it is different for those from from the countries of the European Union and the Shengen area, as well as from Great Britain and Israel: in this case it will be allowed from May 16 to arrive on Italian territory without the requirement of isolation. Of course, everything will be possible only in case of a negative buffer. This is a new step forward for tourism and movement throughout Europe, a key issue in anticipation of the summer season.
The stop to the mini-quarantine had already been in the air for a few days considering that hospitalizations in Italy are back well below the risk threshold for intensive care. There is only 22% of bed occupancy (the alert threshold is 30%), while for ordinary hospitalizations the percentage is 23%. Also certified is the drop in infections: down by almost a fifth in the last week, after 18 days have passed since April 26, when the yellow zone returned to Italy.
Covid tested flights increase
In another Health Ministry order, Covid tested flights are strengthened. The extension of the trial covers Venice and Naples airports and, among the countries of origin, expands to Canada, Japan and the United Arab Emirates . It too will be in effect from May 16.
Covid tested flights first began in September 2020 with successful experiments carried out at Linate and Fiumicino airports. By early April, the trials had expanded To and from the United States at Milan Malpensa Airport.. The order stipulated that all passengers had to submit a molecular or antihygienic test. This attested negativity to Covid-19 48 hours after travel.
On the Covid tested flight front, in September Alitalia had made the experimentation of Rome/Milan flights and vice versa, with access to passengers only if they have a negative swab or only if they are tested at the time of boarding.
