Green light from EU ambassadors to lift travel restrictions for tourists from eight nations:
- United States
- Taiwan
- Albania
- Lebanon
- Macedonia
- Serbia
- Hong Kong
- Macau

These nations are thus added to the safe list that already included Australia, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand.
The European green light is only a first step, as each state in the Schengen area is free to impose further restrictions and limitations. The most important news is that those from countries on the safe list do not have to be vaccinated.
Something that will surely make many tourists happy, but unfortunately not Europeans (and therefore us Italians). In fact, the ban on entry to the U.S. for nonessential reasons remains in place against those who have been in the last 14 days in the EU or UK.
Although there are workarounds, such as flying for 2 weeks to Mexico and from there entering the U.S. by air or land, at present it remains impossible to know if and when the Biden administration will lift the ban. A decision was expected in recent days, but in this respect all is silent.
