The features of the new Centurion Lounge
With its greatly increased size, there are now a variety of new services to try out. Among the most eye-catching new features is the presence of a studio space designed in collaboration with the independent library of New York City McNally Jackson. The collection of books inspired by New York City was curated by McNally Jackson Books to recreate the typical library environment where one can relax before a flight. Also interesting is the choice of design elements that reference the Big Apple. The arched shapes in the dining area reference downtown architecture and local bridges. The phone rooms, on the other hand, feature vibrant art murals and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Also worth trying are the menus curated by Cédric Vongerichten, chef of the restaurant's Wayan, with signature specialties and several vegetarian and vegan options. "We worked closely with local partners and small businesses to create a space that embodies some of the most unique experiences in New York City," said Pablo Rivero, vice president Loyalty Travel Experiences & Benefits. The menu will include classic Centurion Lounge favorites, such as Crispy French Toast with Strawberry Market Jam and Fried Chicken with Honey Lemongrass Glaze, as well as new dishes to be discovered.
The new Centurion Lounge also features signature cocktails developed by Jim Meehan and New York City-themed beverages. Also featured were locally sourced beverages, including coffee from Brooklyn Roasting and beers from Coney Island Brewery and Captain Lawrence Brewing Co. Centurion Lounge wine director Anthony Giglio selected products from around the world, including two New York State wines, Wolffer Estate Cabernet Franc from Long Island and Silver Thread Riesling from The Finger Lakes.
Who can access
"We are excited about the American Express' new Centurion Lounge. It is another example of the truly exceptional experience travelers can expect from the new terminal. A state-of-the-art lounge where passengers can rest before flights. Or sample locally inspired dishes," explained Stewart Steeves, CEO of LaGuardia Gateway Partners. The Centurion Lounge for now is open from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., except on Saturdays, when it closes at 5:00 p.m. Access is available to those with Amex Platinum or Centurion Card. American Express is also working on opening locations at London Heathrow and Washington Airport. It also aims to expand locations at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and San Francisco International Airport.
"The American Express Centurion Lounge is another addition to the world-class experience that will characterize the new LaGuardia Airport," said Rick Cotton, Executive Director, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
