With the announcement of the closure of ticket sales by Alitalia and the go-ahead for those of ITA, the newco that is supposed to replace it, the company has posted on its website all the information regarding tickets sold for travel after October 15.

In this article:

    As part of the procedure for the sale of the "Aviation" branch of Alitalia - Società Aerea Italiana S.p.A. under extraordinary administration to the wholly state-owned company Italia Trasporto Aereo S.p.A., the Ministry of Economic Development has authorized Alitalia to close down ticket sales, and consequently provide for the cessation of its flight operations, as of October 15, 2021, as the date scheduled for the start of operations of the new flag carrier.

    Therefore, Alitalia offers passengers holding an Alitalia ticket (055) for flights purchased on all Alitalia Markets:

    • no later than August 24, 2021;
    • With a travel date from October 15, 2021;
    • to/from Any destination/origin worldwide;

     Which are deleted, The following forms of assistance and reimbursement at their option:

    • change of reservation (rebooking o rerouting - i.e., change of itinerary to reach the original destination or return to the point of origin of the trip), without fare supplementation, on flight useful to the passenger, by October 14, 2021 (last return date);
    • change of destination, with possible fare supplement, for travel by October 14, 2021 (last return date). There is no refund of fare differences.

    Change of use will only be possible:

    • for tickets NATIONALS, on destinations NATIONALS;
    • for tickets INTERNATIONAL, on destinations INTERNATIONAL.

    To change or modify the reservation, passengers can call the Call Center or they can contact the travel agency that issued the ticket.

    In the event of inability or non-interest in rescheduling, passengers may request the full refund, without penalty, of the price at which the ticket was purchased or the remaining value of the ticket for the journey not yet made. The request will be taken up and settled as soon as possible, in accordance with Reg. EC261/2004.

    To request full refund Passengers who purchased their tickets on the Alitalia website will be able to click on the link present in the cancellation notification message.

    For requests for partial refund passengers can call the Call Center. Passengers who have purchased the ticket at the Travel Agency, they will be able to contact their travel agent directly.

    PASSENGERS WITH MILLEMIGLIA AWARD TICKETS

    Passengers holding tickets MilleMiglia Award with travel dates from October 15, 2021 to/from any destination/origin worldwide, booked on cancelled flights, will be allowed:

    • contact the Call Center to be Replaced, without penalty, on Alitalia flights or flights operated by SkyTeam Partners and other Frequent Flyer Partners By October 14, 2021 (last return date);
    • request the change of destination, with mileage supplementation if needed, either on operational AZ flights or operational flights of SkyTeam Partners and other Frequent Flyer Partners to fly by October 14, 2021 (last date of return).

    Passengers who wish to forfeit their trip can apply for mileage credit, tax and surcharge refunds by clicking on the link found in the cancellation notification message.

    TRAVELPASS

    Passengers holding Alitalia TravelPass (055) for flights. purchased on all Alitalia Markets: 

    • no later than August 24, 2021;
    • With a travel date from October 15, 2021;
    • to/from Any destination/origin worldwide;

    Which are deleted, Will be able to choose one of the following options:

    • change of reservation (rebooking o rerouting to reach the original destination), without fare supplement, on a flight useful to the passenger, by October 14, 2021 (last date of return);
    • In case of inability or non-interest in rescheduling, passengers may request the Full refund, without penalty, Of the ticket price. The refund will be issued in the original form of payment. To request a refund, passengers should contact the Alitalia Contact Center.

    Passengers in possession of Alitalia TravelPass packages, purchased on all Alitalia Markets, with validity beyond October 14, 2021, can take advantage of one of the following options:

    • Use of the package totally or partially unused with booking and ticketing by October 14, 2021 (last return date). It will not be possible to change the parameters selected during the package purchase stage (destination, names, number of trips, number of passengers, booking period, blackout dates);
    • In case of inability or non-interest to use the package by October 14, 2021, passengers may request the full refund Of the price at which the package was purchased (if totally unused) or the remaining value of the package (if partially unused). The refund will be issued in the original form of payment.
