Milan Linate airport is all new and new is also the lounge, which opened just a few months before the pandemic outbreak.
In this article:
The Leonardo Hall is located in the old part of the air terminal, and the gates in this area have fingers and are therefore the most convenient for passengers who otherwise have to go down to the ground floor and take buses to get to planes parked on the runway.
Access to the hall
The lounge is managed directly by SEA, the airport operator, is affiliated with the Priority Pass network, and is also accessible to business and elite passengers of some airlines. At this time it is the only open lounge in the entire airport. Those who do not fall into these categories can still gain access to the hall by paying for a ticket or by purchasing a bundle that includes fast track.
American Express Platinum Holders enjoy free access for two people in all Priority Pass lounges, while holders of American Express Gold have two free accesses and discount on subsequent accesses.
It is closed Casa Alitalia which is exactly opposite the Leonardo hall.
Also closed is the British Airways lounge, located on the ground floor right next to passport control for non-Schengen flights.
What Leonardo House offers
The hall is very beautiful and well-decorated, and has no outside views except for a very small glass wall looking over the gate area. Its configuration is unconventional: it is T-shaped and partially downhill.
The rooms are furnished with colorful armchairs and classic bar seating. There are no relaxation areas or even separate lounges.
The biggest flaw is the lack of an area to work comfortably.
Food and beverage offerings are in the normal range. At this pandemic time, everything has become single-serving (all compostable), so self-service has been maintained.
I have visited the lounge many times, today was lunchtime, and the offerings included various types of sandwiches, a farro salad, and a cold pasta with mozzarella cheese.
Monoportions even for pizza and focaccia, may seem like a huge waste, but it is the only way to have the buffet and ensure a safe environment.
The beverage offerings are very rich. In addition to soft drinks, beers and water, classic Italian aperitifs such as Crodino and Sanbitter are also available.
Everything self-service and excellently stocked.
Once all the dishes I had chosen were brought to the table, my lunch looked like this, a not particularly inviting picture. But when I realized that it was not plastic, but rather compostable material, I was able to eat without too much remorse. In any case, the products were of excellent quality.
Staff are always present and ready to clean and sanitize all seats and pick up empty containers very frequently.
Pro
- Cleanliness and order
- Care for the environment with very little use of plastic
- It is open
Against
- Little supply of "real" food
