This was the last hotel on our road trip which took us across 13 European borders, a way of being able to celebrate the regained freedom of travel, at least in the Schengen countries. Previous stops had taken us to Trieste, Vienna, Warsaw e Line and, as mentioned in the other articles, we have always stayed in facilities of the Hilton Group.
In this article:
This part of the trip I did alone; the rest of my family will return to Italy in August aboard a much more comfortable and fast Airbaltic flight. I chose this hotel while on the road, not knowing where I would be able to get to, which is why I booked only a few hours before, when I realized that my arms would take me all the way to the capital of the Czech Republic.
Reservation
Always and only through the app, also because in addition to getting the benefits you are guaranteed the best price in case elsewhere you find a lower rate for the same type of room. In this case I knew full well that mine would be a pit stop model, after 1,600 km of travel from Riga I just needed to eat something, take a shower and sleep. I chose a basic king size room, but still with the X2 rate, which allows you to Collect double Hilton Honors points, the chain's loyalty program.
Check-in and location
The hotel is in the heart of the city, in fact the pedestrian zone of the city center starts 50 meters from the hotel door, so it is absolutely recommended for those who plan to visit Prague without having to worry about getting around by car or other public transportation.
Upon my arrival, 9 p.m., the lobby was deserted. The facility has underground parking, which, to my delight, I discovered was not only free, but also had reserved spaces for Diamond holders in the HHonors loyalty program. I don't know if there are any actual controls on this, but it is certainly an additional recognition for the most loyal customers.
The reception desk is very nice and elegant, greeting me was a single attendant who, after verifying my documents, also asked me to show my green pass, it was the first hotel to check it of the whole trip.
There is also a nice bar and breakfast room on the ground floor, but unfortunately the food court was closing just as I was checking in, so I had to look elsewhere for something to eat.
On the second floor of the facility is the hotel's fitness center and a small spa with a swimming pool open free of charge to all hotel guests.
Too bad my daughter was not with me this time, we could have taken a dive together.
The room
Without asking anything, I was offered a free upgrade to the Executive rooms. The room was very large and also seemed newly renovated.
Perhaps the only flaw was the nonexistent view of the back of the hotel.
In the room the usual Hilton standard service, water bottles that are free for elite guests, and a real mini fridge, not just a mini bar.
The bathroom was also spacious with a large walk-in shower.
Betrayal by dinner
In the midst of this stay, I made an escape from the competition, namely to the Marriot hotel located directly across the street from the Hilton.
I was looking for where to get something to eat and I popped into this hotel because from the outside I saw that the kitchen was open.
So I found myself eating while listening to live music amidst many happy foreigners, and I really felt I was in the "former world."
Breakfast
When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Prague confirms the rule that every hotel, even those in the same chain, has its own way of serving breakfast.
Free buffet and small a la carte menu to order freshly prepared products.
One of the reasons I choose Hilton is that I can take advantage of the free breakfast and that means a savings of 15-20€ per person per stay.
In conclusion
I would gladly return to this hotel because of the convenient location and the spa, which, after a long day out and about in the city, can be the perfect place to relax before going out to dinner.
