Alitalia cancels post Oct. 14 award tickets, Millemiglia in final throes

These days, cancellations are pouring in from Alitalia to all customers of the Millemiglia loyalty program who had booked flights After the fateful date of October 14.

Alitalia's decision to cancel all tickets issued for flights operated after AZ's end date of operations was the latest Mockery of loyalty program members.

While it was a foregone conclusion that flights operated by Alitalia would be canceled on routes that perhaps ITA has no intention of flying in the coming months, it is less justifiable to cancel the flights operated by partners both Skyteam than the company's direct ones such as Etihad. These flights were paid for by customers, through Alitalia with companies that will hopefully continue to exist after October 15. Surely AZ found the easiest and cheapest (for it) solution rather than doing right by its (former) customers.

In recent days I have received many reports from TFC readers of the arrival of cancellations, on Saturday I received my 4 emails cancelling my flights booked in May 2021 to fly in spring 2022.

In detail, I was canceled flights from Paris to Seoul with Korean and Air France, and subsequent flights between Seoul, Bangkok, Ho Chi Min, and Taipei with Korean, Vietnam Airlines, and China Eastern.

Singular that the email says that they tried to contact me, but that since the number did not exist they could not do so. The number is obviously correct and is the same one I have been using for 20 years.

So after almost completely emptying my piggy bank, I again find myself with a nest egg of virtually worthless points.

It must be said, however, that AZ was just as quick to also return the amounts of fees paid by booking the award ticket.

Now all that remains is to wait less than 10 days, although what it seems and what we read around is that there is no big news on the horizon in this respect.
