The UK is changing its access rules, and this time the procedure has become simpler. A real surprise, considering how Covid has accustomed us to the exact opposite. Starting with the October 4, in fact, it will be possible to engage in a journey to London (and beyond) with simplified measures for arrivals from non-risk countries. A list that also includes Italy. Facilities that concern, however, only those with a complete vaccination cycle (second dose inoculated for at least 14 days).
In this article:
Important to remember that, due to Brexit, from October 1 it is necessary to have the passport to enter the UK And the ID card is no longer enough.
United Kingdom, new rules
It is good to know how the approved regulations also affect the under 18 years of age, if fully vaccinated. Travelers are asked to book and pay in advance, before departure, for a Covid-19 test to be performed during the second day of their stay in the United Kingdom. Added to this is the completion of a passenger tracking form. This process can be done at any time during the 48 hours prior to arrival.
What, then, are the abolished rules for individuals with double vaccine doses? The following:
- It will no longer be necessary to take a pre-departure test
- It will no longer be necessary to take a test on the 8th day of stay
- You will no longer need to undergo a quarantine period in your home or place of stay for 10 days after arrival (unless you test positive)
As many people know by now, one must have with him or her the necessary and especially adequate documentation to prove full vaccination. Thus, we are talking about a paper or digital version document provided by a national or state public health agency. This will have to contain the following data:
- Name
- Last name
- Date of birth
- Vaccine brand
- Vaccine manufacturer
- Date of vaccination for each dose
- Country or territory of vaccination (and/or certificate issuer)
This list is of paramount importance, since in the absence of any of these reported items one will be forced to follow the rules that apply to unvaccinated passengers (far more limiting). It should also be noted that even those with only one inoculated dose are equated with those without coverage.
Travel to the UK for the unvaccinated
Not vaccinating is not always a choice. There are individuals who cannot receive the doses for health reasons. For them there is no special and, so to speak, facilitated treatment. They will have to comply with the regulations for all passengers without a vaccine and in possession only of a negative swab taken within the last 72 hours before boarding.
What rules are we talking about? Here's what travelers without vaccine doses or with only one need to know:
- Covid-19 test before departure (within 72 hours of boarding)
- Booking and payment for a Covid-19 test for the second and eighth day of stay
- Completion of passenger tracking form at any time within 48 hours of arrival in the UK
- Quarantine period at home or place of stay for 10 days
As for theself-isolation, this can be discontinued before 10 days in two ways. The first involves waiting until the eighth day of the stay, at which time a follow-up test must be performed. The second, for a fee, takes advantage of the Test to Release, with swabbing on the fifth day at a cost of 49 pounds (just over 57 euros).
