The rules for returning to travel change from month to month. Some countries reopen and others still keep their doors closed for safety. Others, such as the Spain, require a certificate of vaccination (full cycle) in order to gain access if you are coming from areas considered at risk. It is natural to wonder, then, where travel is permitted. Here are the countries outside theEurope which you can visit, following certain rules.

Trip to Israel

In this article:

Israel falls under List C and, according to Italian regulations, travel to this country is allowed, but it places restrictions on entry. There are steps you must follow before you can embark:

    • authorization issued by the Israeli Authorities
    • Negative PCR test performed within 72 hours of departure
    • Online self-certification submitted within 23 hours of departure
    • Health insurance that covers the risk of Covid infection for the period of stay

All this does not avoid the 14-day quarantine period, which can be reduced by a PCR test negative after the seventh.

    D-list countries

Travel from Italy to a large number of countries on List D is permitted. Any Italian citizen has absolute freedom to travel to these areas, without any need for justification. This means that travel for tourism is permitted. The fact that our government allows travel, however, does not mean that there are no limitations on the other side. In fact, it must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Here are the countries in question and what restrictions they face:

    • Saudi Arabia: Tourist visa reinstated as of Aug. 1, can be obtained on VisitSaudi portal. Entry allowed with negative PCR test done within 72 hours of departure, certificate of full course of vaccination.
    • Armenia: Admitted entry to holders of a full vaccination certificate in Armenian, Russian or English (second dose inoculated at least 14 days ago) and negative PCR test performed within 72 hours of boarding.
    • Azerbaijan: As of September 6, it is possible to obtain an electronic entry visa at the ASAN VIZA portal, provided you have a complete vaccination cycle certificate and a negative PCR test.
    • Brunei: Short-term visitors are not allowed to enter. You can apply for an Entry-Travel-Pass for medical, work, study and family reunification reasons
    • South Korea: A negative PCR test is required for entry in English or Korean. Another test will be administered upon arrival. Positives will be transferred to appropriate facilities; negatives will still have to undergo isolation for 14 days. The filling out of the new k-eta is also needed.
    • United Arab Emirates: a test is required Negative PCR performed within 48 hours of boarding and, once in place, you will be re-tested. Health insurance that covers Covid cases is recommended, considering the costs of local facilities.
    • Japan: closed doors to travel for tourism purposes until new directions, from every country in the world.
    • Jordan: A registration on a national platform and a form to be handed in at check-in is required. Vaccination certification exempts from PCR testing upon arrival.
    • Lebanon: negative PCR test within 96 hours of boarding
    • Qatar: vaccination certificate with second dose inoculated at least 14 days ago
    • Singapore: Borders reopened and no quarantine
    • Taiwan: ban on entry and transit for all non-residents
    • Hong Kong: Negative PCR test in English or Chinese, conducted within 72 hours of boarding. Hotel reservation for the duration of the planned 13-day quarantine. Also required to undergo a test upon arrival.
    • Macau: prohibited entry for non-permanent resident foreign nationals
    • Canada: admitted foreign nationals with full vaccination cycle, also possessing a negative test.
    • United States: l'8 November the travel ban will expire  complete vaccination certificate and negative test are required.
    • Australia: borders closed both inbound and outbound from March 2020. There are currently tentative signs of reopening.
    • New Zealand: borders closed, except for New Zealand citizens, permanent resident aliens, and travelers from Australia and Cook Islands

What are Covid-free corridors? These are routes designed to ensure tourist travel in a controlled manner. All following specific health safety measures. Health Minister Roberto Speranza has authorized several of them, here are to which destinations:

    • Aruba
    • Maldives
    • Mauritius
    • Seychelles
    • Dominican Republic
    • Egypt (Sharm El Sheikh and Marsa Alam)

These are, of course, the destinations that are legally reachable from Italy, then there are many nations that welcome Italian tourists but where our country's current rules do not allow them to go for non-essential reasons, an example being Thailand.
