Play bets on Italy: here's how and when to fly to Iceland

Covid has clearly put a damper on the airline world. The projects of the big giants have been forcibly changed and revenues decreased markedly. There was also room, however, to launch some new projects. Now that the industry seems to be heading for a sharp recovery, especially after the comforting numbers of summer 2021, here is Play.

This is a small Icelandic airline that promises to make increasingly frequent connections with the rest of Europe. A really interesting prospect, considering how in the general imagination a trip to Iceland is something complex to plan. Play, which has been advertising its offerings for months now and is now ready to targeting the Italian market.

Play is a carrier born from a rib of WOW. The initial plan was to launch in spring 2020. It goes without saying that plans had to change, due to Covid-19. A "small" postponement, only to have the project launch in May 2021. New liquidity made it possible to win a Airbus A321neo with about 200 seats.

Play's airport of choice is Reykjavik., from where the inaugural flight departed on June 24, heading to London's Stansted Airport. Seven destinations were initially looked at, excluding Italy. A few months later, however, here is the announcement. Even in our country it will be possible to take a low-cost flight to Iceland.

Play sets its sights on Bologna's Marconi airport. A really interesting plan to enable low-cost trips to Italy as well to go and discover Iceland's breathtaking sights. The carrier is looking to the near future, namely the 2022 summer schedule. Four stops have been added to the seven previously revealed. These are. Bologna, Stuttgart, Prague and Lisbon.

The program includes two weekly connections from Marconi Airport. People will be able to leave on Tuesdays and Saturdays, taking advantage of direct flights to Reykjavik. You can already book your tickets but the first flight from Italy will not leave until June 7, 2022. The prospects are very interesting. Play's ambition is not limited to Europe, but aims to launch services in North America next year. This is all thanks to the addition of new aircraft to its fleet.
