He has joined the fleet of ITA Airways The second aircraft with the new blue livery.

It is an Airbus A319 dedicated to champion Pietro Mennea, the man of records in speed and therefore nicknamed "The Arrow of the South." A gold medalist in Moscow, he is the only 200-meter runner to have qualified for five consecutive Olympics (from 1972 to 1988) and, among many others, he is the holder of two important records set back in 1979: the world record in the 200 meters run in 19"72, a record that was only broken in 1996 and is still the European record (after more than 40 years), and the European record in the 100 meters with 10"01 improved at the national level only in 2018.
Airbus A319 dedicated to Pietro Mennea arrives in ITA Airways' fleet at few weeks from the Airbus A320 named after Paolo Rossi. The new aircraft will be operational from next January 14, 2022.
Thus continues ITA Airways' strategy of dedicating new aircraft to Italy's greatest sportsmen, ambassadors to the world of professionalism, determination, strength, passion and grit, elements that have always carried Italy's flag high.
One of the key pillars of ITA Airways' business plan is to put the customer at the center of its business. That is precisely why the company has invited fans on its social media to choose the names of the champions after whom the next aircraft that will soon enter the fleet with the new livery will be named.
ITA Airways' new livery features the color blue, chosen as a symbol of unity, cohesion and pride of the country and representative of sport and the Italian national team. On the rudder the tricolor, on the light blue background the red and white gold logo of ITA Airways and stylized icons inspired by the national artistic heritage.
