Starting Tuesday, March 1, in fact, the requirement for vaccinated passengers to undergo a pre-departure swab before boarding a flight to Italy from a country outside the European Union will cease.
Italy had Already lifted the restriction for passengers from EU member countries and now permanently removes this requirement for everyone, Italian and non-Italian.
This means that if you go to England, for example, you will not need to undergo any swabs since the British government also from February 11 lifted all restrictions for vaccinated passengers.
The decision is greeted with joy by the Italian tourism world, which will thus be able to welcome back passengers from the rest of the world without any constraints. But not only that, it is also important news for all vaccinated Italians heading outside the EU, who on their return will not be forced to take any tests and thus will not risk being stranded due to a positive swab.
The same, however, may not necessarily happen on the outward journey; at present, for example, for those heading to the U.S., there remains a requirement for a rapid swab in the 24 hours prior to departure, as well as other destinations still ask for a PCR.
It would seem to be a matter of weeks, however, and then the few remaining constraints will probably be permanently lifted and people will be able to travel again, where and how they want.
