The world of Super Mario is about to leave digital screens and become reality (for the second time). It's a dream come true for millions of fans, who will finally be able to compete live in Mario Kart or try their hand at the obstacle course to save Peach. It will all be possible at theUniversal Orlando Resort, which will launch its first theme park in 20 years. The name chosen is Universal's Epic Universe, where Super Nintendo World will be located. Its realization is not in itself new; in fact, the announcement dates back to 2019.

However, intriguing details are beginning to emerge about the thematic areas that will find their way into it. Although the waiting time is still long, work has in fact been halted due to Covid-19. The pandemic actually prevented regular progress on the schedule throughout 2020. Construction operations received the green light in 2021, and currently the schedule calls for delivery by 2025. A long wait, then, but certainly worth the wait.
Super Nintendo World, what to expect
Universal has not officially revealed anything about the attractions that will be inside the new Super Nintendo World, but it already finds space at the studios amusement park in Japan, opening in March 2021 in Osaka.
On a structural level, one expects an area completely separate from everything else in the giant park. Stepping into the world of Mario will mean having the feeling of having stepped into a world of its own. You certainly won't be able to miss the huge Green pipe leading to Peach's castle, as in Japan. A nostalgic journey for all gamers, young and old, who passionately followed the adventures of Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad in the 1990s. A dream experience, however, for new generations as well, since Nintendo has never stopped exploiting its most famous game. The world's most famous plumber has never retired, reinventing himself console after console.
The expected rides
Super Nintendo World is expected to bring about a real change of direction for Universal's amusement park. Over the years, the many attractions on offer have increasingly winked at teens and adults. While there is certainly no shortage of children around the resort, what the new project intends to achieve is something that can guarantee attractions for the whole family. Looking to Japan, exactly the two main rides should be replicated, both of which are suitable for younger children.
The main attraction should be Mario Kart, which offers the chance to try your hand at an adrenaline-pumping running in augmented reality. The technology made available will allow players to find themselves in Bowser's castle, while also having the feeling of going much faster than what is actually happening. All while having to avoid all sorts of obstacles well known to Mario fans. The other major anticipated attraction is Yoshi's Adventure, or a slow train ride that takes visitors through the wonders of Nintendo gaming, complete with a treasure hunt. Could there be a lack of roller coasters? Certainly not. Those expected in Orlando should be Donkey Kong-themed, which should take visitors on a thrill ride inside a mining trolley.
