As if 2 years of pandemic were not enough, now we all have to reckon also with a war in the heart of Europe. Unfortunately, the news we hear day after day in the news is not encouraging.
In this article:
Sometimes we feel helpless in the face of these tragedies, and a great many have wondered how it is possible to lend a hand, how to help the hundreds of thousands of people whose lives have been turned upside down?
Collection has started in several cities supplies e clothes, in addition to the classic collections funds on dedicated sites, but to us at TheFlightClub.com. particularly struck an interesting initiative, perfectly in theme with the spirit of our portal for travelers.
So many users are booking rooms and apartments en masse on Airbnb in Ukraine, even though they will not physically go there, just to help financially population.
This is a commendable and smart initiative, since unfortunately some fundraisers often do not know where they go. This way, however, it helps directly the population, with Airbnb acting as a conduit we have the assurance that the funds will reach the hosts and thus the Ukrainian inhabitants.
Airbnb waives fees for apartments booked in Ukraine
The reaction of the colossus Airbnb was not long in coming:after recording a increase of room and apartment reservations in Ukraine, has decided to contribute giving up commissions on reservations, the "service charges" that we usually pay when booking.
In this way, all the money goes directly to hosts who can distribute it to those who need it most. It is not known who started this initiative first, one of the first is probably a Twitter user with the name of a famous recorder: @quentin.quarantino, on Instagram he has almost 1 million of followers.
Yesterday I shared an idea to support Ukraine by booking rooms for rent on AirBNB. 24 hours later, 100's of people are booking AirBnBs in Ukraine as a way to send immediate monetary assistance to people in hard-hit areas. From there a chain infinite has generated almost 2 million dollars in bookings, as Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky announced:
In 48 hours, 61,406 nights have been booked in Ukraine. That's $1.9M going to Hosts in need

More than half of the nights, about 34.000, were booked by users in the United States and the rest between Europe, Canada and the United Kingdom. Prices are not high, some rooms go for as little as 10€ per night and some have even booked for the summer.
Airbnb also organized a campaign of temporary housing for 100,000 people fleeing Ukraine, to participate you can provide your own apartment, in a free or discounted way, or by making a donation on Airbnb itself, where proceeds will be used to reserve homes for refugees and secure a roof safe on the head.
At present, the initiative is limited to countries neighboring Ukraine in terms of the rooms made available, while donations are accepted from all over the world, just go to the official website of Airbnb.
"I live in Melbourne, Australia, and unfortunately I will not be able to travel to come to your beautiful apartment. However, I thought that by making the reservation I could directly help someone involved In this horrible situation Ukraine now finds itself in.
I hope my little help will help and know that the whole world is with Ukraine at this time and I deeply hope that peace may return. When it is, I would love to come and visit your beautiful country. I send you much love from Australia. Kate."
The host's response, "Hello Kate. The world does not exist without good people. Now I have tears in my eyes and cry from happiness in the first of these terrible days.
