Doors even more open in Australia

Australia has reopened its doors and is ready to lift some restrictions on the Covid front. This is a decidedly important and surprisingly sudden change of course, considering the fact that for more than 18 months since the start of the pandemic, the borders were tightly sealed, amid general protests. Indeed, it was absolutely forbidden for most travelers to set foot there and, as elsewhere, for locals to leave unless certain extraordinary reasons were given.
In this article:
Zero tolerance, then, stopped, however, in October 2021, when citizens were allowed to leave the country. To return, however, there were different rules depending on where they came from (simple test or quarantine period). Then last February 2022 came the long-awaited announcement and the green light for vaccinated tourists. Now things are changing again and here is how.
Australia: new entry rules
We extensively described Australia's planned regulation from February 21, 2022, explaining in detail what the DPD was, viz. Digital Passengers Declaration, which is essential for access to the country. Let's try not to repeat ourselves, going straight to the point, that is, explaining what will change from the April 17, 2022.
The reopening of the borders is lightened by a few regulations. It will be possible to say Goodbye to the need for pre-departure Covid-19 testing. This is literally a game changer and will no doubt prompt many more tourists to opt for this beautiful country in the coming months. For those who boast numerous vaccinations, in fact, having to schedule a test in time for departure is always too much of a bore, which almost seems to nullify the importance of the inoculated serum (three times over). Wanting to summarize in the extreme: goodbye quarantine and pre-departure swabs in Australia.
The health emergency period will end in the country precisely on April 17, 2022. This explains the upcoming relief. A date to mark on the calendar, as much for incoming travelers as for locals. Especially those who make their living from tourism. Making the announcement was Australia's Minister of Health. Greg Hunt: "Implementing the emergency health phase was a crucial decision in response to the pandemic," he said, "It allowed us to save tens of thousands of lives. Indeed, we were able to avoid some of the most violent manifestations of the virus in the initial spread phase. Today, we also boast one of the highest vaccination rates in the world."
Travel to Australia before April 17
The crucial date is not long away. April 17 is indeed just around the corner. However, if you are among those who will find themselves in that dream land before that time, remember the ground rules:
- Required to submit the result of a negative molecular or antigenic test performed 72 or 24 hours before departure, respectively
- essential to check before departure whether certain areas have been locked down. In fact, four weeks ago, lagging behind the rest of the country, it reopened the western
- Full vaccination is of course required to travel, and this rule will remain in effect after April 17
