We admit we have not yet recovered from the news of the past few days, we expected positive news, but we certainly didn't think that at the same time British Airways would make it so convenient book a ticket to fly aboard the QSuites.
What is QSuites
In this article:
The Doha-based carrier is so confident in the soundness of its business class proposition that it has decided not to adopt the first-class cabin aboard all aircraft entering its fleet in the coming years.
The configuration provides a 1-2-1 arrangement, with each chair being a small suite isolated from the hallway by a door that provides almost total privacy.
In addition, the arrangement of the center chairs allows for seating that can become a small office in the skies and then turn into a double bed.
All with the Qatari standard in terms of service, wine cellar and gastronomic proposal because we must not forget that we are talking about Of the best company in the world.
Which Qatar Airways aircraft are equipped with Qsuites
Unlike Emirates, which has a fleet of only two models (A380 and Boeing 777/300), Qatar has many aircraft types available, from single-aisle to wide-body. Making it even more complex, however, is the fact that even within the same type of aircraft, there are various layouts.
Here in detail is the Qatar fleet where this business cabin configuration is provided:
- Airbus A350-1000: all of the fleet, that is, 19 of 19. If the flight is operated with the largest model of the Airbus flagship, you are assured at 100% to find the QSuites
- Airbus A350-900: currently on the smallest of the A350 family, less than 1 in 3 aircraft in the fleet is equipped with Qsuites for a total of 10 of 33
- Boeing 777-200LR: here the odds are high, since it is installed on 7 of 9 tripleseven
- Boeing 777-300ER: QSuites is featured on 37 of 48
- Boeing 787-9: are few, only 7, but QSuites is present on all of them. In fact, here the Qsuite booth is different and is also called Qsuite 2.0.Â
The rest of Qatar's fleet does not have QSuites installed and will never see this cabin installed, barring changes in strategy.
- Airbus A321/A320/A319
- Airbus A330-200/300
- Boeing 787-8
- Airbus A380-800Â
How to detect the presence of QSuites
We have repeatedly talked about Seatguru to learn about the differences between the various fittings and to identify the best possible seat on board each individual aircraft/carrier. With Qatar things are more complicated because precisely there is a variety of possible fittings.
So the advice is to check what model the flight is operated with and then make a trial booking to see, when you have a choice of flight, whether the configuration includes QSuites or not.
Partial help comes to us from Qatar's website, which highlights, when booking, whether the route involves an aircraft with this cabin type. In fact, a Q is inserted in the results list in the right-hand corner to inform the traveler that at least one of the routes in the itinerary involves QSuites.
No guarantee
One important thing to remember is that there is no guarantee that the flight will be made with that specific aircraft, this means that for any reason the carrier can change the aircraft and consequently the layout and the passenger find themselves in a traditional business cabin and not in QSuites. It happens very often and there is no recourse for the traveler to get discounts or other concessions for the change.
