We've been to W Bangkok: "Oh WoW."

If there is one thing that does not missing in Bangkok are the beautiful hotels, e this W is absolutely a really nice hotel.
In this article:
W is the Marriott sign that identifies design hotels designed for clientele looking for a luxury hotel, but not as formal as the St. Regis. In short, a facility that can also be a place to have fun at all hours.
Reservation
Normally W hotels are very expensive facilities, but-in this new normal and especially in Asia where travel is still tied to protocols, testing and bureaucracy-they have dramatically lowered prices. Therefore, there was no point in using the points to book a room that was cheap less than 90€ per night.
I am curious to see what will happen in similar cases with the new pricing Of Marriott's award nights, from fixed has become dynamic as is the case with Hilton. With the reduced cash rates of the 50% and more, we will see if far fewer points than the current ones will be required for a night in a standard room.
The location
The hotel is located in the district of Bangrak is the area that has changed its skin in the past 5 years, the one where Thailand's tallest skyscraper (later surpassed by only 3 meters by the King Power Tower) has risen and the one where dozens of new hotels, restaurants and clubs have sprung up.
The BTS, the subway that runs above the city's streets, is. less than a five-minute walk and from there, in three stops, you are in Siam, the central hub of this megacity.
Check-in
I arrived from the airport in about 30 minutes, but BKK traffic is totally unpredictable; it could take as long as 90 minutes.
The hotel is a 30-story skyscraper in the shadow of the iconic Mahanakhon, which, at 314 meters, is one of the tallest buildings in Southeast Asia.
The exterior of the facility is very beautiful, as is the building that houses one of the facility's restaurants, a small two-story 19th century mansion. The Ws have a very pronounced connotation, and the spirit of this sign is fully breathed here.
The lobby is elegant and basic, to the left is the bar that becomes a club in the evening, and to the right is a giant, dramatic spiral staircase that leads to the hotel's main restaurant and meeting rooms. Unfortunately, I did not receive any category upgrades, Marriott in that sense. is not as generous to its Gold customers as Hilton is.
The room
The room was on the 21st floor with an open view of the city.
The window takes up the entire exterior wall, lets in lots of light, and most importantly, allows for a splendid view of the sunset with the sun reflecting off neighboring buildings, while at night it gives a wonderful skyline worthy of Manhattan.
The bed, king size and maybe a little more, is also very comfortable thanks to a topper that is (almost) never lacking in Marriott.
The strategically placed desk with my back to the window allowed me to work and make calls without having to use a green screen to simulate being elsewhere.
The bathroom is equally beautiful: it has a bathtub, shower and everything else. Obviously declined again in the design hotel key.
The room is all controllable from the tablet on the bedside table. You can manage the air conditioner, the lights, and even the "do not disturb" button on the door.Â
All beautiful and especially easy to use, not like other solutions where you need a manual to turn off the lights.
I have never seen an alcohol offering like this in any other hotel: goodbye mini bottles, here you go straight to the heavy with significantly larger sizes than you would usually find in a hotel room.
Food & Beverage
Of the bar on the ground floor I have already said, the deejay comes in the evening and changes its skin.
There is a second bar in the pool on the sixth floor, and even here the DJ station hints that the area is also intended to be "hot."
Outside is a restaurant, housed in an iconic late 19th-century structure; it looks like one of those houses that have withstood sale offers and been surrounded by high-rise buildings.
I don't know if this is how it happened or if it is just a fake instead, what I do know is that it is really elegant and in the square in front of the hotel it really makes a good impression.
The Kitchen, on the other hand, is the main restaurant and is on the second floor of the hotel, the one where breakfast is served in the morning. The room is huge, and it could not be otherwise since the hotel has more than 300 rooms.Â
I had breakfast on the terrace; there are few tables available, but it is definitely a perfect solution (provided it is not too hot or rainy season).
Buffets in Thailand are, in my opinion, the best in the world for a very specific reason: we are exactly halfway between the two worlds, the Asian world and the Western world, and here they are masters of both cuisines, thus able to meet all kinds of demands.
From eggs, all freshly prepared and made to order at the table, to oriental offerings such as noodles and dim sum also freshly prepared.
Â
All this always in a very beautiful and elegant design environment.
Services
On the sixth floor of the hotel is the "wet" area, consisting of the SPA, gymnasium and swimming pool.
The pool is not panoramic as that of the nearby Marriott The Surawongse, let alone Is the size of the Conrad's, however, it is designer and fully reflects the soul of the hotel.
The structure that was built to contain it is reminiscent of a seashell; again, it is not design for its own sake but is functional: in fact, it also serves to provide shade and protection from the sun during the hottest hours of the day.
Also suitable for children (it is no more than 1.3 meters deep), it is perfect for a dip before going out or when returning to the hotel after a busy day in sultry Bangkok.
The gym is adequate to the needs of a hotel like this and is made in Italy since all the equipment is Technogym. Finally the SPA, I did not have time to try it this time, it will be for the next one.
There is a small business space on the ground floor for working on computers and printing documents.
In conclusion
Bangkok offers all kinds of accommodations, you can sleep for less than 10€ a night or for 1000€, and be fine either way. This W is a perfect solution for couples looking for a level facility that guarantees everything needed for a stay in such a megalopolis. At less than 100€ per night.
