All this is possible thanks to Biosphere, the latest natural spectacle created and made available by Treehotel. The distinctive hotel with a modern design and environmentally sustainable policy is located in the Swedish Lapland, exactly in the urban area of Harads (one hour from Luleå Airport). And it is a truly magical place.
How Biosphere was born
Established in 2010 at the behest of owners Kent and Britta, the Treehotel is the result of a collaboration between the two managers and a number of Scandinavian designers. Collaboration that led to the creation of 8 different rooms, each isolated and Suspended among the trees of the local nature. Those who wish to stay at the eco-friendly Treehotel can choose from several rooms: Mirrorcube, Bird's nest, The cabin, 7th room, The ufo, Dragonfly, the Blue cone. And, indeed, the newest Biosphere.
For Biosphere-the eighth creation-Kent and Britta wanted to continue in the same vein as the sustainability and the natural tourism, just as with the seven "sisters." The managers enlisted the cooperation of the renowned Danish BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) and the advice of a number of local bird experts. Among them Ulf Ӧhman, ornithologist and president of the Norrbotten County Ornithological Association. Just Ӧhman explained in a press release how important the little houses created around Biosphere are. For what? For the preservation of birds, endangered by climate change.

A unique stay
Accessible via a suspended walkway, Biosphere has 34 square meters furnished in minimal style with organic materials inspired by the surrounding environment. Walls, floor and ceiling are composed of stained glass windows, through which it is possible to observe the lives of different species of birds coming and going from the 340 cottages surrounding the cuboidal chamber.
Several species of winged neighbors will enliven your stay, including western jackdaws, redstarts and gray titmice, and then bees and bats (some of the 340 huts, were built especially for them). A true paradise for birdwatchers, but also for those looking for a different kind of tourism experience.
Nature lovers will also be able to reach the rooftop terrace of the room, from where they can enjoy a 360-degree view of the forest surrounding. That's not all: also from the terrace, lucky guests will be able to watch the wonderful spectacle of theaurora borealis.
Like all other rooms, Biosphere has a living and sleeping area, as well as incineration toilets. Also while staying at this unit you will be able to take advantage of the wood-fired sauna positioned (in strict Treehotel style) among the forest trees.
This latest room is scheduled to open by May, and prices for a two-guest stay with breakfast included are around SEK 12,000, or about 1,200 euros.
