This tariff is by no means new and it's not even difficult to reserve it since it has been available almost continuously for a year and Is valid, practically all the time, until April 2023, thus in time for the Brazilian summer and the carnival period in Rio.
I took advantage of this rate in January of this year to fly to Brazil and accumulate a fair number of XP points and as many Flying Blue points. The reason is simple: the ticket is issued by Aeromexico, a SkyTeam partner, and if credited on Air France's or Delta's loyalty program, allows you to renew/obtain status with almost a single ticket.
Departure is from Barcelona, then intermediate stopovers (e.g., Madrid, Paris, and Amsterdam) and an "obligatory" one in Mexico City, from where it departs in the direction of Brazil. The last route is operated only by Aeromexico, while all other connections can be built with itineraries involving Air Europa, Air France, KLM, and precisely Aeromexico.
Sure, it's "inconvenient" travel, but if you want to combine economy fare with a need to gain/renew status in a SkyTeam airline, it's one of the best options available in the market and certainly the one that generates the most points at the lowest cost.
Not to mention, with one route operated aboard an Air France 777/300, there can always be an opportunity for an upgrade in La Premiere, Air France's first class.
