Ryanair, the difficulties (documented on TikTok) of a plus-size passenger

The bathrooms, seats, and aisles of the aircraft of Ryanair are not suitable for the plus size passengers. This is claimed by Kirsty Leanne, a 29-year-old blogger from England who flew on an Irish airline plane from London to Hamburg on April 21.
In this article:
The young passenger chose the well-known social TikTok to document and spread the dasagi she experienced on the aircraft. But let's see what happened.
Plus-size passengers, British travel blogger's complaint
Having gone viral, the video shows Kirsty Leanne in obvious difficulty on the seat, lowering the tray, and inside the bathroom.
The short clip with 1.2 million views and 93,000 likes shows her sitting in her seat while takes up all the space available And almost "trespasses" into the seat next to it. The seat belts? They would not fasten. It was necessary to ask for some extenders.
But that's not all: at the time of lower the tray, had to stop mid-stride because it was obstructed by her abdomen. The video continues with Kirsty Leanne inside the bathroom where she cannot move comfortably.
However, despite the clear contents, the posted video received several dissenting opinions. Someone, with little elegance, wrote: "As if it were their fault!". Someone else rehashed it: "There is only one person to blame". Another user of the well-known social media wrote instead, "This should be a huge wake-up call.". Others, however, were quick to defend the plus-size blogger, showing all their solidarity. "What is wrong with you people? He's not hurting anyone, he's just showing his struggle with travel and how people in the same position could travel better" one girl wrote. "Why are the comments so rude?" wonders yet another user. "He never said the airline is to blame, he is just showing his travel experience".
Kirsty Leanne's tips for plus-size passengers
In fact, the British blogger would not be new to this kind of situation. A few months ago she would be asked to buy two seats given her build.
In addition to using TikTok to share her travel experiences, Kirsty Leanne reports on the adventures she has had moving around the world, on her travel blog " Plus Size Travel Too", where she talks about how traveling as a plus-size person is a far from comfortable experience.
Just on her blog Kirsty writes about her London - Hamburg flight: "The first problem I had to face was walking down the aisle of the plane, I was one of the last people on the plane because I was late, so I felt people's stares and all I could think was that they did not want me to sit next to them. I sat in my seat and luckily the one next to me was empty, which allowed me to have a little more space" he said.
He therefore provided some advice to those who fly Ryanair, and it is a plus size:
- Avoid rows near emergency exits, because although they have more legroom they do not allow for an extender to be fastened;
- the first row is not a good option because the tray is on the armrest and you cannot use it:
- Paying for priority boarding allows you to board before the aisle fills up with passengers;
- Avoid the middle seat.
Breaking a lance in favor of some airlines, it must be said that some of the most important ones adopt pro plus size passenger solutions. For example, traveling in the Economy cabin, the French national airline Air France offers plus-size passengers the opportunity to Purchase an additional seat by taking advantage of a 25% discount on the second seat. In the event that the plane is not to be filled completely, the cost of the additional seat will be refunded. Brussels Airline,s instead, provides a separate class called. Premium Economy. With only 21 seats available, this area of the plane has wider seats and more legroom, with larger headrests and armrests. Of course, a seat in Premium Economy must be booked in advance. And it is available on numerous other airlines.
