Sometimes air travel is really pleasant, you eat a good meal, you sip something cool or warm (depending on the season), a nap, a glance at the sunset and the flight passes light. Sometimes, however, this is not the case at all: the child who cries, the long-armed neighbor, the flight crowded, the cramped seats, the rude passenger who yells when he talks, turbulence...and that's when the flight turns into a nightmare And we can't wait to get off.
In this article:
Perhaps the nightmare flight was spent by the protagonist of today's story, a passenger on a United flight who well thought to open the emergency door and of go out on the wing while the flight was still moving, fortunately after the landing stages.
Perhaps the passenger was still sleepy, as the accident occurred at the 4:30 in the morning, the fact is that the 57-year-old Californian opened the emergency door, the one located above the wing, got off the moving plane and tried to enter the airport, but was promptly stopped by the attendants and handed over to police custody.
"This morning United Flight 2478 was taxiing to the Chicago O'Hare gate when a passenger opened an aircraft door and stepped off the plane. Our ground crew stopped the individual outside the plane and the person is now with law enforcement. The plane then arrived at the gate and all passengers disembarked safely. The safety of our customers and crew is our top priority."
Note from United Airlines
One witness related that many people tried to dissuade him from the gesture by shouting at him, but it did not help to stop him. It is not known why the gesture was made, but what is certain is that this is not the first such incident.
In fact, a few years ago at Galilei Airport in Pisa a 20-year-old man decided to launch from the plane that was reaching the runway for the take-off, opened the hatch and walked on the wing and then jumped off. Afterwards, he went to run for the track until he was joined by law enforcement officers who took him into custody.
The boy suffered a fractured foot and gave the flight's passengers a scare. The reason for the act is still unknown; it would appear that the young man felt bad, most likely because it was his first flight and he had a panic attack. So much so that a girl who was on board recounted that a flight attendant asked another passenger if she could switch seats with the 20-year-old because he was not feeling well.
