The verdict against the world's best airports, according to passengers for the year 2022
First place confirmed for Doha's Hamad International Airport., Qatar's hub last year undermined Singapore's airport, which had won for the past 7 years. The pandemic has literally reshuffled the cards, closed borders and travel bans have changed the routes and traffic at various global airports.
The ranking of the top 20 airports in the world, however, tells us that: 10 are in Asia and 10 are in Europe, no U.S. airport makes it into the top 20, as does no Italian airport (a confirmation from the past). Here is the top 20:
20th Hong Kong International Airport: we find him Down by as much as 10 positions in one year. The pandemic has not been merciful, causing a sudden loss of traffic. According to SkyTrax it still remains the best airport with less than 2 million passengers. We are confident that it will be in excellent positions again during the coming years.
19th Vienna International Airport: The Austrian capital's airport climbs 4 positions this year. Austrian continued to fly and this allowed many passengers to transit this airport, plus thanks to the much European traffic Vienna has been a destination for many tourists who were thus able to appreciate the Austrian airport.
Which Airports ranked from 18th through 4th?
In 18th place we have: the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in China, while at the 17th, one step up from 2021, l'Copenhagen Airport .
In 16th place is Madrid-Barajas Airport, up four places after coming 20th in 2021. It is a very important connection point for those traveling to Latin America, a key hub for many carriers including: Iberia, Air Europa, EasyJet, etc.
At 15th place Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world, a really important gateway for Europe and international flights. The latter also won the award for best airport website and digital services offered. Of course, during this summer period the Dutch airport is turning into a nightmare for passengers, and we are sure this will weigh on next year's ranking
How did Dubai Airport rank?
In 14th place, up five places. Dubai International Airport is very busy thanks to Expo and open borders for all. We are talking about an important departure point for the entire Middle East and beyond, a stopover for a great many international flights.
But let's continue our ranking...
In 13th place is London Heathrow Airport., functional and interesting compared to the others present in London. He dropped out of the top 10 this year, however; in 2021 he was ranked eighth.
In 12th place we find Chubu Centrair International Airport. in Japan, located on an artificial island in the sea in front of Nagoya.
The 11th place (like last year) is from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, with the title of the best Airport in Northern Europe. It is the home of Finnair and above all has always been an important hub for flights to Asia before the war in Ukraine.
Kansai International Airport confirmed in 10th place, the main gateway to the city of Osaka in Japan. It has won several awards, such as: best Airport for baggage delivery and best low-cost terminal.
In 9th place, however, we have Zurich Airport., hub for Edelweiss Air and Swiss International Airlines. Zurich also won the Best Airport award for security procedures and recognition as Europe's cleanest airport.
8th place for theIstanbul Airport, which jumped a whopping 9 positions from the previous year. A booming airport that will become increasingly important. More than 200 million annual travelers are expected to pass through this airport by 2025.
In 7th place, there is Munich Airport, which has also won numerous awards such as the best Airport in Central Europe and also the one with 10-15 million passengers with the best Airport Hotel.
At number 6 we have Paris Charles de Gaulle. which climbed many positions from the previous year, was also named: best Airport in Western Europe.
We come to the top positions: ranks 5th South Korea's Incheon International Airport..
In 4th place we find Narita Airport instead, top 5 for 2022 as well. An airport that connects Tokyo to the whole world, named the best Airport for 5/10 million passengers and hub for so many major companies.
What are the top three best Airports in the world according to passengers?
3rd Singapore Changi Airport, who lost the crown in 2021. Undisputed leader in this ranking from 2013 to 2020, also won many awards for this year, such as: best Airport for professionalism of airport staff in the world and Asia, best restaurant in Airport and best Airport for 2/5 million passengers.
It is an Airport with lots of facilities, including swimming pool and cinema, and is home to Singapore Airlines, Jetstar Asia Airways, Scoot and SilkAir.
2nd Tokyo International Airport. Haneda always surprises us and this time it gets the second step on the podium. This is a very busy airport, for many years it was limited to domestic and regional flights, however it has recovered a lot over the years. It also won several awards this year, such as: World's Cleanest Airport; World's Best Domestic Airport; Best Airport for Accessible Facilities; and Best Airport in Asia.
1st Doha Hamad International Airport. The best company in the world is based in the world's best airport, an incredible combination that the Qatari government has built on the eve of the World Cup, which will bring millions of tourists to the Persian Gulf nation.
In conclusion
The next ranking will be one of restarting, I am curious to see where the Istanbul airport will have gone and especially whether Singapore, now that the borders of Asia are practically reopened, will take back the top spot. Also, I hope to see Fiumicino pop up., sooner or later, in this ranking. Terminal 3 was already beautiful and now the new T1 completed the transformation of the Italian airport.
