By now, aircraft are equipped with every comfort possible and imaginable, if it used to be a revolution just to fly from one end of the world to the other, now we consider it absolutely normal that by airplane we can make a shower, go to the corner bar, have breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner, sleep and watch movies.
In this article:
Over the years, the offer gastronomic aboard aircraft has become increasingly expanded but more importantly refined, now you can find haute cuisine signed by international chefs, vegetarian and vegan dishes, options for children, and gluten-free meals.
Just as with food, the alcoholic offerings have also been enriched: now you can taste wines of excellent workmanship, as well as virtually all the drinks that can also be found on the ground.
Unfortunately, all of this can have unpleasant consequences, reports often come in of behavior disrespectful by some passengers on board, and, especially in the recent period, cases have multiplied.
Accomplice to the obligation of mask which was often not respected, complicit in the stressful period we went through, all mixed with a few too many drinks and there you have it, the recipe for disaster is served.
Flight attendants association calls for a limit on alcoholic beverages on airplanes
Recently American Airlines had stopped serving alcoholic beverages in economy and now that it is gradually reintroducing the service, the union of the airline's flight attendants is asking for pose a limit Of two drinks for each tourist class passenger.
Blame was placed on the requirement of in-flight masks that could be removed during the consumption of drinks and food. Unfortunately, many passengers took advantage of this and, in order not to wear the security device, continuously ordered drinks, becoming harassed and unruly as a result.
The choice, however, is divisive, some flight attendants argue that the limit would only bring benefit and order on board, while others disagree:
"I disagree at 100% with imposing a limit on alcoholic beverages on board. Bad passengers should not ruin the flight experience for good passengers.
When a passenger gives the impression of being under the influence of alcohol, we stop serving them. Sometimes it happens before we serve them a drink on the plane."
Kristin, an American Airlines flight attendant.
The flight attendants' union states that even before the pandemic, riots were happening on board due to of alcohol And that covid only increased the episodes.
What do you think? Do you think it would be fair to place a limit to alcoholic beverages on airplanes, or are flight attendants able to handle the situation now that the mask requirement on airplanes is almost no longer in effect? Let us know in the comments.
