We realized that when telling the best way to invest the points accumulated from everyday spending, we always talk about traveling far away, we tell about resorts in the Maldives and of Flights to the other side of the world. We forget to tell How to turn those points into incredible experiences in our country, without going too far, without taking a plane and without the need to have a passport.

Today , let's do mea culpa, And we tell about one of the most incredible possibilities to have a "real" experience in Rome taking advantage of Bonvoy points for Book one or more nights at the St. Regis, one of the most luxurious and elegant facilities in Italy. Especially now that it has been completely renovated with a redesign that cost 40 million euros.

A palace born in 1894 from the mind of legendary hotelier César Ritz, a facility considered one of the best examples of top European hospitality, in a location that to call strategic would be an understatement: it is in the center of the Eternal City between Piazza della Repubblica and the Quirinale.

The 131 rooms and 30 luxurious suites have all been renovated. Each room refers to one of the two colors identified by PYR: the powder blue of the capital's sky or the warm terracotta of Roman walls at sunset.

The designer also selected an array of sumptuous fabrics, fresh linens and hand-chiseled mirrors to create a sense of space, tranquility and luxury. This is further accentuated by natural daylight and warm evening lighting from Venetian chandeliers, which have also been restored. In addition, a collection of contemporary art and antiques is displayed in various spaces throughout the hotel, recalling Rome's centuries-old role as a hub for artists and collectors from around the world.

The Ritz Ballroom, named after the famous hotelier César Ritz, was opened in 1894 as the first public ballroom in Rome. Designed by Roman architect Giulio Podesti and richly decorated with frescoes by Mario Spinetti, the hall underwent a meticulous six-month restoration conducted by a team of skilled craftsmen and restorers. The frescoes are a brilliant example of the Roman Pre-Raphaelite heritage, and are therefore protected by the Superintendence of Fine Arts. Thanks to this careful restoration, guests can now admire Spinetti's frescoes depicting eight scenes depicting different moments of peasant life with hints of the mythological theme connected to them. In the center of the frescoed ceiling, gilded vaults form a diamond lattice, with garlands and floral motifs framing the tromp l'oeil with glimpses of the sky, giving the illusion of an opening to the outside world.

How much does it cost to sleep at the St. Regis

This is the most luxurious property in the Marriott portfolio in Rome. Prices rarely drop below €1,200 per night, which is why finding availability to book using Bonvoy points can be an incredible bargain, one of those conversions that can put a very high value on the points you accumulate.

Right now, as you can see, the cost of one night is close to €1500, in terms of points as many as 100k Bonvoy points are required per night, a far better conversion than at the new W Rome, where-at half the cash cost-just 18,000 points less are charged.

However, by taking advantage of the "flexible" calendar on the Marriott website, it is possible to identify the period when rooms cost the least. As we have written several times, Marriott has abandoned the fixed table for award nights by switching to dynamic pricing.

Right now in January 2023 you can book, even on weekends, starting at just over 80 thousand Bonvoy points, an incredible way to maximize the possibility of staying in this hotel by taking advantage of the fifth night free rule. Sleep, for example, from January 17 to 21 costs only 372k Bonvoy points

    How to accumulate Bonvoy points

The first way is to be enrolled in the Marriott loyalty program, stay in one of the over 8000 facilities worldwide and earn points with all spending in the hotel. It is then possible to Turn Membership Rewards points into Bonvoy points and finally use the strategy that allows Buy points, when there are rich bonuses, and then book using the points and save on the final booking cost.
