According to a survey conducted by SWG on behalf of Norwegian Cruise Line, Two out of three Italians are looking for new travel horizons, and they think of the 2022 vacation focusing on carefree (68%), comfort and safety (both at 58%).

Protagonist of Italians' summer vacation, again this year, will be mainly the sea (chosen by 67% of vacationers), which holds the top spot on the podium, followed by mountains and art cities in second and third place. The vacation experience will be based, for Italians, on the search for relaxation (56%), but also for art and culture (35%), contact with nature (31%) and freedom (31%). A result in line with an earlier Costa Cruises survey.
If the sea represents a particularly popular element of Italians' summer vacation, the possibility of live it fully through a cruise proves as attractive as ever even to those who have never taken one. Comfort in the cabin (60%), quality and variety of dining (48%), and the freedom to enjoy the services at any time (48%) are the key factors according to Italians for a quality and freedom-filled sea vacation experience.
Not surprisingly, among the elements given the most importance in the choice are the ability to have wide open spaces on the ship (68% rated between 8 and 10 in importance), followed by the freedom to customize shore excursions (65%), the quality of activities on board (58%), and the freedom to be able to eat without the typical time restrictions and/or dress code (53%). Regarding the characteristics of the ship itself, it is considered important that it is new and high tech (52%), luxurious (38%), and made in Italy (38%).
