"As of today we connect Rome and Seoul again with Boeing 777-200s, 5-star service and excellent safety," said Lee Ki Wook, General Manager of Korean Air, "Last year was the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Rome flight. I am convinced that the resumption of flights will be an important stimulus for the future and we are ready to show you."
"We are extremely pleased to celebrate the long-awaited return of Korean Air," said Ivan Bassato. "The intensification of direct connections with Seoul reaffirms the relevance of the Korean market, which, not surprisingly, had surpassed the record threshold of 430,000 passengers carried in 2019. Hoping to see the full recovery of these volumes soon, we are proud that Korean Air, historical partner of Aeroporti di Roma, chooses Fiumicino airport as part of the reconstruction of its international network. This is a confirmation of our attractiveness thanks to our market potential, no less for the excellence and quality of services offered by our airport that make Fiumicino the most appreciated airport in Europe by passengers."
Initially, the frequency will be three flights per week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) with departure from Rome Fiumicino at 9:25 p.m. and arrival in Seoul at 3:40 p.m. the following day. The return from Seoul will be on the same days with departure from Incheon Airport at 1 p.m. and arrival in Rome on the same day at 7:30 p.m.
The reopening of operations from Rome from September 1 is the sign of a return to normalcy and the gradual reactivation of intercontinental flights in the network. It also confirms the company's focus on the European market and especially the Italian market, with a view to a strong business and tourism relationship between the two nations.
