Things are about to change aboard Singapore Airlines planes, and definitely for the better. One of the most attractive passenger bonuses, reserved for Suites and First Class ticket holders, is about to cross borders and reach another class. We're talking about unlimited use of the internal Wi-Fi network.
In this article:
This news comes three years after the launch of the first package proposed for the first two classes mentioned above. It is time for a change, and the gaze now rests on the Business Class.
Singapore Airlines: unlimited Wi-Fi
The update of the carrier's internal regulations is in testing phase. This means that you will not be able to take advantage of the unlimited connection to the internal Wi-Fi network in Business Class on all flights provided by Singapore Airlines. Here are the aircraft involved, which will hopefully boast this functionality permanently:
- Airbus A350 Long Haul
- Airbus A350 ULR
- Boeing 737-8 MAX
- Boeing 777-300ER
- Boeing 787-10
There is also a way to be able to bring this huge benefit to other classes as well, such as Premium Economy and Economy. In fact, Singapore Airlines will allow all passengers who are members of the PPS Club to take part in the trial project, which for the time being has no definite end date.
Wanting to summarize the big picture, all passengers in Suites, First Class and Business Class will get unlimited access to Singapore Airlines' Wi-Fi network, regardless of whether or not they hold a member card of the PPS Club or program KrisFlyer. In the case of Business, however, this is an experimental benefit, available only on board certain aircraft, as indicated above. For the time being, it is not known when this will be discontinued or if the company will decide to make this permanent. Different is the case for Premium Economy and Economy Class. The only way to get unrestricted online sailing is to be a member of the PPS Club. KrisFlyer members, on the other hand, can enjoy 2 hours of complimentary connectivity. Everyone else will have to pay instead, adhering to the company's fee schedule.
Singapore Airlines: Wi-Fi packages
In case you cannot take advantage of the unlimited access, either because of ticket type, membership or because the aircraft you are on is not part of the trial, here are the Wi-Fi packages offered by Singapore Airlines:
- Chat: at a cost of $3.99 you can access only your messaging apps, such as WhatsApp, Telegram, iMessage and others. The connection will expire after two hours and the plan cannot be interrupted and resumed in order to exceed the time threshold imposed with intermittent use;
- Pro: At a cost of 9.99, it is possible to surf freely up to a maximum threshold of 100 mb. There is no time limit, but rather one related to the data downloaded. Ideal for short searches, messages and e-mails;
- Premium: At a cost of $15.99, it is possible to surf up to a threshold of 200 mb. No time limit, but one related to data downloaded. Ideal for getting some work done;
- Surf: at a cost of $15.99 it is possible to surf without any limit for a total of three hours. They do not count the data downloaded during this time, but the package cannot be paused and therefore after 180 minutes it will be discontinued.
