October 1 is a very important day from the perspective of Covid rules. In fact, many countries have decided to lighten their regulations in this respect. In Italy, for example, people will no longer have to wear a face mask on board public transport. Canada, on the other hand, is taking a big step forward on the tourism front. Doors open to travelers, since restrictions to curb coronavirus are dropped.

Fall is here, and instead of bringing with it new restrictions, as was the case in 2020 and 2021, it brings us wonderful news. Steps toward "normal life" continue, to the point of Being able to treat yourself to a trip to Canada Without too many qualms and worries.
Until the end of September, foreign nationals had to prove that they had completed the vaccination cycle, therefore to be in possession of what we call a Green Pass. The last dose had to have been inoculated for at least 14 days. Added to this was proof of being asymptomatic, with a Covid test before leaving. All of this information had to be sent in advance to the appropriate offices through the ArriveCan app. The procedure did not end there, however. In fact, one had to undergo a new test upon arrival, if required.
Restrictions that have done their job, allowing Canada to statistically lower the risk of infection. As of October 1, 2022, however, all of that will go away and hopefully there will be no need to backtrack.
Let's look specifically at the rules that are cancelled and those that remain in effect as of Oct. 1. It is no longer mandatory to wear a mask in order to board public transportation, whether bus, plane or subway. Under no circumstances will one have to undergo a quarantine period upon arrival in Canada. Swabbing will no longer be required or give proof of vaccine. Uploading documents via ArriveCan app also becomes optional.

There is a return to normalcy in Canada. An important step toward a normal life. Those in the tourism industry can breathe a sigh of relief, considering how one of the most coveted trips for 2023 appears to be cruises to Canada and Alaska. This goodbye to restrictions, then, makes this much easier.
If Canada is making strides, the neighboring United States does not yet intend to abandon some strict rules for tourist entry. We know that moving between states in the US is now very easy. In fact, there are no restrictions on this.
No passenger is required to wear a face mask on domestic flights unless the carrier specifically requires it. However, let's look at those arriving from outside, perhaps from Italy. No Covid test is required before departure. The regulation was amended in June 2022.
However, not everyone can freely fly to the United States. In fact, it is only possible to travel if you have completed the vaccination cycle and can provide the relevant documentation. A rule in effect only for tourists and not for departing or returning U.S. citizens.
