MSC Cruises ushers in a new phase of the cruise industry baptizing in Doha MSC World Europe, the most "green" and technologically advanced cruise ship globally that paves the way for the adoption of zero-emission alternative fuels as soon as they become widely available. Powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), the cleanest fossil fuel currently available on the market, MSC World Europe is the first ship in the world to incorporate innovative fuel cell technology, which can significantly reduce--along with the presence of numerous other cutting-edge green solutions--the ship's overall environmental impact by almost completely eliminating emissions of air pollutants, including sulfur oxides and particulate matter, and significantly reducing nitrogen oxides and CO2 emissions by up to 25%.

The naming ceremony of the new flagship of the world's third largest cruise brand was held at the brand new Grand Cruise Terminal in Doha, Qatar, in the presence of the captain, Captain Marco Massa, local dignitaries, and numerous distinguished international guests. Welcomed by comedian, producer, and entrepreneur Hamad Al Amari, attendees at the event were treated to performances by local artists, video-mapping projections directly onto the ship's hull, drone shows, and fireworks over Doha's beautiful skyline, and finally participated in a gala dinner in the ship's elegant restaurants and a concert by Matteo Bocelli who presented his new single for the first time in Doha.

MSC World Europe will spend its inaugural season in the Middle East offering 7-night cruises to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sir Bani Yas Island, United Arab Emirates, Dammam, Saudi Arabia, and Doha, Qatar. The season will begin on December 20 with a special 4-night cruise from Doha, Qatar, to Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Departing from Dubai on March 25, 2023, MSC World Europe will head to the Mediterranean Sea for summer 2023, offering 7-night cruises calling at the Italian ports of Genoa, Naples and Messina, as well as Valletta in Malta, Barcelona in Spain and Marseille in France.
