Moxy is Marriott Group sign designed to attract new millennial travelers, both as a date of birth and as a type. Moxy hotels are never dull and in some ways they are very similar in their differences. The facility we are discussing today is located in the heart of Downtown New York.

Reservation
I just crossed the finish line of the Titanium Elite and I have to say that I am beginning to fall in love with the benefits that the Bonvoy program gives to clients who climb to the penultimate step of the program.
I made the reservation on the app, because that is the only way to take advantage of the level, get the benefits and accumulate points.
Location
As mentioned, we are in Downtown within walking distance of the Freedom Tower area and the Oculus. From here we can walk to take the boat to the Statue of Liberty, to Wall Street, and, if we like to walk, to the other areas-Times Square, Highline, Little Italy, and Little Island.
The view of the Hudson and Manhattan bridges is truly unique.
Check-in
To my surprise, I received an upgrade to an Executive room., I did not expect this since Moxy usually do not have different rooms from each other. Normally it is just a matter of beds: 1,2 or 3.
In this case I think the only difference is that the Executive rooms have a few more inches of space.
The structure
There is generally nothing on the ground floor, just a small counter where you can check in. This is perhaps the only difference with all the other Moxy's I have frequented around the world. Usually it is the bar counter that acts as the reception desk, not here.
The heart of the Moxy is the bar area and this is definitely the most beautiful one I've seen to date. Many hotels in NY have turned bars into mini clubs, and it is no different here.
There is a bar counter more than 20 meters long, a sofa area, the DJ console, and the area used as a game room.
The ever-present ping-pong table, video games, board games, and arcade games. The hotel is designed for guests to stay as little as possible in the room and more time here.
Then there is something I had never found inside a hotel: a basketball court. It's not whole, but it's big enough for a 3-on-3. Only at Moxy.
The room
The only shortcoming of the facility is that the 29 floors are served by only 3 elevators, so one spends several minutes waiting at peak times.
As mentioned, this hotel is designed to minimize the time you spend in the room; there is nothing superfluous in the room, not even such obvious things as a closet or a chair.
Although in my Executive there was a rocker hanging from the ceiling, which in the basic rooms is not there due to lack of space (I think).
The bathroom is also essential, but that is what the guest who knows Moxy needs. Let's say that if one is not familiar with it, one is likely to be puzzled the first time. If you are looking for a more formal environment, better to choose another sign.
Services
Of the game room and basketball court I have written, in addition there is a small gym on the second floor. It can be accessed directly from the elevator.
It is possible to train, with made-in-Italy equipment, with a view of Manhattan .
Food & Beverage
This hotel is one of the most fashionable places to drink and spend time with friends and colleagues. In fact, during my stay, I saw the bar space really alive and very welcoming.
Not only guests, but also many outside patrons who visit the hotel just to have a drink and spend some happy time.
The plenty of space to sit turns this environment also into a kind of talent garden, suitable for smart working and business meetings.
It is also a popular place for Sunday brunch and evening happy hours. In short, it is perfect for breathing in the New York air, especially away from the warm weather when rooftops are not the ideal place to spend the evenings.
In conclusion
I admit that My favorite part of NY for sleeping is really Downtown. Of course, you can make mistakes in hotels as with the nearby Millennium (former Hilton), but in general this area for me is the best for those who have already been to NY once and have exhausted the usual tourist destinations.
Moxy New York is perfect for young people (inside), not families, but only because the rooms are small, even by the New York City standard, where every inch is sold at a high price.

Pro
- The bar area
- The basketball court
- The atmosphere
Against
