This lounge was honored by Skytrax as the best independent lounge in the world. Aesthetically, I must say that it is beautiful, but In my opinion there are many better independent lounges than this one, especially much brighter.
Access
In this article:
You have to pay about 40€ to enter this lounge Or take advantage of the free admission If you are an American Express Platinum holder. With this card you can enter any Plaza Premium lounge in the world with a guest.
Location
The lounge is located on level 4 of Heathrow Terminal 2., one level below the point where passengers pass through security screening.
If you don't know the terminal particularly well, the lounge can be a bit difficult to find because it remains almost hidden, so here's how to get to it: once you get past security, you have to go down to level 4, the shopping and dining level. The lounge is located on the side opposite the airline service desks.
The lounge
The decor is completely different from all other Plaza Premium lounges I have attended to date. In fact, I might say. definitely doesn't resemble a lounge, but seems to be inside a hotel lobby In some large Asian city.
Past the entrance is an initial opening that houses the lounge bar. Singular that inside the hall were tourism banners dedicated to Italy and to major tourist locations such as Rome, Milan and many others.
Access to other areas of the lounge opens from the bar, all very beautiful and impressive, but with one major handicap: the lounge is in the belly of the terminal, has no windowed walls and is therefore very dark.
Of course, one should not be "fooled" by photos that give a different idea.
There are different types of sessions. From sofas to armchairs that isolate the guest from the rest of the patrons. There is a high table with power outlets great for smartworking and, in the buffet area, there is a bar setup with tables and chairs.
There is also a VIP area, I have no idea for what types of passengers.
Food & Beverage
Finally, it was back to the buffet, at least for breakfast. Discreet selection of hot items and more.
Also discreet is the selection of drinks and juices (not fresh) available to guests. Of course if you want to drink something more sophisticated you can go to the bar, here the bartender prepares cocktails and/or spirits.
Lots of power outlets scattered throughout the room, more than good wi-fi, and overall an environment that is not at all reminiscent of a lounge.
In conclusion
Terminal 2 is the home of Lufthansa and Star Alliance at London Heathrow and has its lounge here., then there is also the Aer Lingus lounge, but there are no Priority Pass lounges. The other lounges are in the T2 satellite and are those of Air Canada and Singapore Airlines. The Plaza Premium is nice, but it does not deserve the title of best independent lounge in the world.
