On the occasion of Argentina Food and Wine Week in Rome, which kicks off from today until next Dec. 11, it will also be possible at Leonardo da Vinci to taste traditional Argentine dishes at the Plaza Premium Lounge in boarding area E, with the second edition of the "Argentine Gastronomic Journey" event.

The initiative is a collaboration between Plaza Premium Lounge, Rome Airports, Aerolíneas Argentinas e The Embassy of the Republic of Argentina in Italy, e confirms the close ties that unite Italy and Argentina initiated in 2018 with the donation of a work by Alejandro Marmo-the first Argentine creator to exhibit in the Vatican Museums with "Cristo obrero" and "Virgen de Luján"-made especially for the Roman stopover by the sculptor, by the Argentine Embassy in Italy.
Throughout the week the Lounge will be the location where travelers can delight their palate with some typical dishes from the great South American nation, Doc Italy's "Maestri del Gusto" Chefs will pay homage to Argentina with some of the country's iconic desserts, Master Pastry Chef Arcangelo Patrizi will revisit the great Italian leavened goods such as panettone with extraordinary Argentine raw materials, including Dulce de Leche and Malbec wine, space also for the most typical Argentine recipes prepared by Chef Davide Sagliocco who will propose the famous "Carbonada Criolla" and Chef Anna Maria Palma who will delight passengers' palates with "Locro." Finally, Master Pastry Chef Enzo Avitabile will close the menu with his "Babà Re," an Italian liqueur loved by Argentines. It will also be possible, thanks to Guido Favaro's Argentine wine importer World of Flavour, to taste wines of Argentine food and wine excellence, represented by premium wineries.
Opening the event was a performance by Masters Leonardo and Cristina Elias, dancers from the International Tango Academy CulturTango, an association dedicated to spreading Argentine culture in Italy.

For the past five years Fiumicino has become our home, we have hosted more than 350,000 travelers from all over the World, offering them the utmost comfort and quality food, as also witnessed by the recent recognition received as World's Best Independent Lounge at the prestigious Skytrax World Airline Awards 2022," said the General Manager of Plaza Premium Lounge, Analia Marinoff.

It is a confirmation of the synergy relationship that has been created between Italy and Argentina. A strategic market for us that in 2019 showed a steady increase in volumes reaching 360,000 passengers on board direct flights between Buenos Aires and Fiumicino, demonstrating the strong historical and cultural ties between the two countries," commented Ivan Bassato, Chief Aviation Officer of ADR.
