Review Marriott Buenos Aires, TOP location and beautiful rooftop pool

When you have never been to a place and already know that you have no time to devote to "nonessential" activities, it happens that you choose a hotel at random. Or rather a hotel in an area of the city that might turn out to be either perfect or a nightmare.
In this article:
I spent two days in the Argentine capital. The reason for the flight was the debut of the'A350 of ITA Airwyas in this nation, but more importantly the first flight of the A350, the new flagship.
So when I booked my flight, I knew that I would be in the area less than 48 hours, and that (jet lag aside) I would spend a lot of time in the hotel working and have little time to admire the tango capital.
My choice therefore fell on two hotels (of course I always try to jump from one hotel to another to have more content to cover on TFC) in the family Marriott. I spent the first night in the Tower Park Hotel, family The Luxury Collection, and the second on this Marriott Buenos Aires.
Reservation
As usual, you always book only through the APP. At neither of these facilities did I take advantage of my guaranteed suite upgrades, the result of Platinum Elite status, in the Bonvoy program. Nor did I use points to pay for the stay.
Bottom line, one night cost me a little more than 140$. In BE it is possible to spend less, but I always prefer the standards of a chain: for the privileges of status and especially for the assurance that whatever happens there is a major brand behind it.
Location
Going back to the initial talk, I was lucky in this reservation as well. The hotel is in the heart of La Ricoleta, a famous neighborhood in Buenos Aires. The Colon Theater and the Obelisk of the Nation are exactly in front of the entrance.
From here you can walk to many places in the city. Me I walked all the way to the Palermo neighborhood, passing many iconic spots in the city such as Plaza Italia with the Columbus statue, the Evita Peron monument, the national museum, and more.
Check-in
There is still not the tourism of yesteryear, partly because--at this time--it is autumn here and temperatures are low. You can tell this by the fact that the hotel had about a dozen keys and documents ready for incoming guests to sign.
Thanks to the status, I also received an upgrade to a higher-category room and especially to a newly renovated room.
The hotel management is they renovate the whole structure. All common areas are new and fresh and tastefully furnished.
Starting with the two 1:1 scale horses in the lobby, to the artworks scattered throughout the hotel's main floor.
The room
The hotel is divided into. Two towers, interconnected by the lobby. My room was in Tower B, the lower one, but where the rooms have been largely renovated.
My room was "almost" a suite, meaning that it was divided into two rooms by a wall.  Immediately in front of the front door was a small sofa, probably to turn the room into a two-bedroom as well.
The king-size bed in the center of the room had a very comfortable mattress. So was the small sofa at the foot of the bed comfortable. Let's just say it's an option I like to find in hotel rooms.
The equipment in the room was otherwise fairly standard. Adequately sized Smart Tv, coffee maker with free pods, and mini-bar with a few bottles of water and soft drinks.
The bathroom is also large in size. In addition to the bathtub there was a walk in shower. and, to the happiness of us Italians, also the bidet.
The only real defect of the room was the view, or rather the NOT view from the window, since the view was of the building next door.
The M lounge
Booking a room with access to the M Club allows you to enter a quiet space where you can enjoy something to eat, grab a drink, or simply relax after a busy day out and about in the city.
In my case, access to this benefit is included in the Platinum status of the Bonvoy loyalty program.
The special feature of this hotel's M Club is that it is located on the second floor and is accessible only by a dedicated elevator in the bar area on the ground floor.
The lounge is very elegant and also offers a terrace overlooking the front of the hotel with a great view of the area.
In these lounges, it is possible to drink and eat at any time, depending on the time of day, of course, the food offering changes. Also interesting is the small self-service of candy and sweets, my daughter would probably have looted it.
The common spaces
A phased redesign of the hotel is clearly underway. The common areas on the ground floor are really beautiful and elegant.Â
The bar is very scenic, but in general the whole facility is beautiful and very well maintained and embellished with modern artwork, such as the two horses in the center of the lobby.
The rooftop pool
On the top floor of the facility is the gem of this hotel, or perhaps it would be better to say the goodies. Housed here are the swimming pool, spa, gym and rooftop terrace.
The pool is located in a glassed-in greenhouse, which is very scenic and perfect for taking a dip in all weather conditions. Â On the upper floor is a small fitness room with some equipment for working out while enjoying the view from the top of the city.
Also beautiful is the rooftop terrace overlooking the avenida with a breathtaking views of the Colon Theater and the Obelisk.
Food & Beverage
As mentioned, I nibbled on something in the lounge and had breakfast the next morning. It was a pleasant surprise: leaving early I was convinced I would not be able to take advantage of my free breakfast, but instead the restaurant on the ground floor was already open.
Basic buffet and no a la carte menu. The staff was not very present, so I didn't even understand whether it was possible to order something from the kitchen or not.
Savory breakfast classics and a fair selection of other items were available, but in general from a Marriott I definitely expect more.
In conclusion
The location of this hotel is perfect for everyone. Perfect for those who want to get around the city on foot, those looking for the nightlife of Argentina's capital, and those who want to shop.
The rooftop pool is definitely a major plus, especially for a dip at the end of the day. The room is ok, pity the nonexistent view.
I was slightly disappointed, however, with the breakfast buffet; the nearby Tower Park Hotel offers a decidedly higher-level experience at a similar cost.
Pro
- The swimming pool
- The position
Against
- Breakfast to review
- Soulless room
